Traditional Remedy for Asthma, Bronchitis, Cough & Lung Diseases

Many people have various lung diseases or disorders among which the most common are asthma, bronchitis, and various types of cough.

Different types of infections, allergies and smoking can be the cause of a certain type of lung disease or disorder.

This is a popular traditional remedy for treatment of lung issues, especially asthma, both bronchial and cardiac.

Our grandmothers have prepared this remedy in the past and according to those who have already tried it, it seems that they were right about its healing power.

Ingredient:
  • ½ kg red/purple onions
  • ½ kg sugar
  • 2 lemons
  • 1.5l  water
  • 7 tablespoons of natural homemade honey
Preparation:

Preheat the sugar in a metal container at a moderate temperature, stirring it constantly until it reddens.

After that, add the onions, previously sliced in tiny pieces, fry them shortly and add the water.

Boil the mixture at a moderate temperature until 1/3 of the water evaporates.

Leave it to cool down for some time, and then add the honey and the juice, which you've previously squeezed out of the 2 lemons, and stir everything well.

Finally, leave it to stay overnight and then squeeze out the liquid and pour it into a glass bottle.

How to consume it:

You should consume 1 tablespoon of it before each meal until you use up all of the remedy.

Repeat the procedure until your lungs get well.

It is recommended that children should consume 1 teaspoon of the remedy before each meal.

95-Year-Old Man Sets World Record For Oldest Active Pilot

A 95-year-old Northern California man has become the world’s oldest active pilot.

The Sacramento Bee reported Tuesday that Guinness World Record keepers confirmed that a flight last month by Peter Weber Jr. qualified him for the record book.

Weber was 95 years, 4 months and 23 days old when he flew three looping circles around an airfield near Sacramento on March 30.

Guinness lists Cole Kugel as the oldest pilot ever. Kugel, who lived in Longmont, Colorado, flew for the last time in 2007 at age 105 and died the same year.

Weber says the record keepers have designated a new category: Oldest qualified pilot still licensed and flying solo.

The Air Force veteran has been pilot for 72 years and says he flies about twice a month.

Tinubu Visits AIT: Court Adjourns N150bn Libel Suit Until May 27

An Ikeja High Court on Thursday adjourned a N150 billion libel suit filed by former Lagos State Governor, Chief Bola Tinubu, against African Independent Communication (AIT), till May 27.

Justice Iyabo Akinkugbe adjourned the suit for further direction after hearing the submissions of lawyers representing the claimant and the defendant.

Tinubu had instituted the suit against Daar Communications Plc, owners of AIT, for airing of a documentary titled “Lion of Bourdillon’’.

The judge had on April 1, granted an interlocutory injunction restraining the broadcast station from further airing the documentary, pending the determination of the libel suit.

At the resumption of proceedings on Thursday, Tinubu’s counsel, Mr Ayodele Adedipe, told the court that the claimant had filed Forms 17 and 18 which had been served on the defendant.

However, the defendant’s counsel, Mr Jeffery Kadiri, while admitting service, noted that the 42 days period they were expected to file their reply had not elapsed.

Kadiri said the defendant intended to file a counter-claim and join issues with the claimant, adding that a long adjournment was needed to ensure that all processes could get into the court’s file.

Following the development, the judge adjourned the matter, directing that all documents relating to the suit should be filed and entered into the court’s file to enable the parties to proceed to Pre-Trial Conference.

Tinubu, who is the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), filed the suit claiming that the documentary, which AIT started airing on March 1, was defamatory “in all respects’’.

His lead counsel, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), said the documentary showcased various properties and companies across Lagos State purportedly owned by him and he was described as “Nigeria’s biggest landlord’’.

Olanipekun said the programme also claimed that Tinubu was “charged for narcotics’’ in 1993 in the U.S.

He alleged that the documentary was politically sponsored to tarnish Tinubu’s reputation in the eyes of the populace.

Olanipekun had therefore, asked the court to award N150 billion as damages against AIT for tarnishing his client’s reputation.

Responding, Chief Mike Ozekhome, lead counsel to AIT, had argued that the content of the documentary were facts which had been in the public domain for over two decades.

According to him, these were published independently prior to the broadcast and had remained unchallenged till date.

He further contented that Tinubu was a former senator, two-time governor of Nigeria’s most populous state and the leader of the APC which claims to be anti-corruption.

Ozekhome said AIT had a responsibility to its audience to scrutinise their public officers, adding that Tinubu had not shown how the said documentary had damaged his reputation. (NAN)

Jonathan Rejects Amended Constitution

President Goodluck Jonathan has rejected the amendments made to the 1999 Constitution by the National Assembly,The PUNCH has learnt.

A top government official who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent on Tuesday that Jonathan vetoed the amendment on Monday.

The official said the decision of the President not to sign the document was because the amendment did not meet the provisions of Section 9 (3) of the 1999 Constitution.

The source explained that with the return of the document by the President, the letter accompanying it might be read on the floors of the two chambers of the National Assembly any time from Wednesday (today).

He said, “The President has vetoed the constitution amendment and he has sent it back to the National Assembly.

“The amendment did not meet the provision of Section 9 (3) of the constitution which talks about the need for four fifth of the National Assembly to agree with the amendment.”
Section 9 (3) of the Constitution reads:

“An Act of the National Assembly for the purpose of altering the provisions of this section, section 8 or Chapter IV of this Constitution shall not be passed by either House of the National Assembly unless the proposal is approved by the votes of not less than four-fifths majority of all the members of each House, and also approved by resolution of the House of Assembly of not less than two-third of all states.”

The rejected amended constitution granted approval for the separation of the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation from that of Minister/Commissioner of Justice.

President Jonathan Urges World Leaders To Support Incoming Administration

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Thursday in Abuja urged world leaders and international institutions to give their fullest possible support to the incoming Administration of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari. President Jonathan also called on all Nigerians to do their utmost best to help the incoming President succeed in leading the country to greater heights of accomplishment.

At separate audiences with the new ambassadors of France, Senegal and Ethiopia, President Jonathan appealed for patience, understanding and cooperation from all stakeholders in Nigeria, which, he said, General Buhari will need to move the country forward to greater, peace, security and progress. Responding to the commendation of his exemplary concession of victory in the Presidential elections by the new ambassadors, President Jonathan said that he acted out of his abiding conviction that the unity, well-being and progress of Nigeria must supersede all personal ambitions. “Democracy has to be nurtured to grow.

Strong democratic institutions are the backbone and future of our democracy. They must be protected and nurtured. As for me, as a matter of principle, it is always the nation first. “You need to have a nation before you can have an ambition. It should always be the nation first. You don’t have to scuttle national progress for personal ambition. “Since I assumed duty, I have been involved in quelling political crisis in some African countries and I know what they passed through and what some are still going through.

If you scuttle a system for personal ambition, it becomes a collective tragedy,’’ President Jonathan declared. Speaking with the new French ambassador, Mr. Denis Guaer, President Jonathan urged France to extend the support and assistance it gave to his administration to General Buhari’s government. “President Francois Hollande was our guest in Nigeria during the celebration of Nigeria’s centenary.

He has been very supportive of the country in the fight against terrorism. I expect that the same warmth and goodwill will be extended to the incoming government. I expect that France will continue to work with the new administration, especially on issues of terrorism. “The United Nations has been supportive as well. Our troops, supported by regional forces, have done very well in fighting the terrorists in recent times.

What we need now is support to help our people get back their lives,’’ he said. The ambassadors commended President Jonathan for setting a record of humility, patriotism and courage in safeguarding the democratic process in Nigeria and Africa. “Nigeria is not only an economic power in the world today, but also a great democratic example.

And it is all by your effort, Mr. President. The last elections and your response was truly a great achievement and you will always be remembered for it,” the French ambassador told the President. Mr. Guaer, the new Ambassador of Senegal, Mr. Baboucar Sambe and the new Ambassador of Ethiopia, Samia Zekaria Gutu who were at the Presidential Villa to present their letters of credence to President Jonathan, also assured him that they will do their best to strengthen relations between Nigeria and their countries during their tenure.

Woman Delivers Bouncing Baby Boy Inside BRT Bus In Lagos

Passengers on a Bus Rapid Transit going to the CMS area of Lagos on Wednesday were forced to become emergency midwives and labour attendants when a pregnant woman was delivered of a bouncing baby boy inside the bus.

According to reports, the woman identified simply as Afolaranmi, was going to a private hospital in CMS for a medical checkup, when her labour suddenly started. Fortunately, some medical workers in the bus immediately organised other passengers and helped in delivering the baby at about 12pm, around the Constain bus stop.

After the delivery, the mother and the new baby were taken to a private hospital.

A passenger on the bus, who gave his name as Shodipo told PUNCH Metro that both the woman and the baby seemed to be fine. He said:

“It was a very interesting experience. To my novice eye, the woman and the baby were both fine as of the time I left the bus.”

I Will Perform Godwin In Church Again: Korede Bello Says

After he performed his smash hit single, ‘Godwin.’ at HICC (Harvesters International Christian Centre) in Lagos, On Sunday, April 5, 2015, Marvin new boy Korede Bello faced mixed reactions from some of his fans and followers of Nigerian music. While some saw nothing wrong with him performing the song in a church, others felt he crossed the line as a secular act who mounted the sacred pulpit.

While speaking to TheNET recently, Korede Bello said he doesn't regret performing in church and if the opportunity presents itself again, he'll gladly do it all over again.

He said:

‘If you are the pastor of a church and you invite me to perform the song, Yes i will perform the song again. It’s God’s song and whatever is happening now is predetermined, people are talking about God that’s all that matters, From the inception of Godwin, I knew that it wasn't my song, I knew that anything that’s for God has the potential of growing bigger than you imagine. It’s not quite a gospel song, it’s an inspirational song, what I mean by it’s for God is the fact that it’s dedicated to God. I don't see it as my song, I see it as people’s song and I see it as a song for God.’

Xenophobia: Rep Calls For Evacuation Of Nigerians From S/Africa

Rep. Nnenna Elendu-Ukeje, Chairperson, House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs, has called for the evacuation of Nigerians within 24 hours from South Africa owing to ongoing attacks on non-indigenes.

Ukeje (PDP-Abia) made the appeal in a phone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Ibadan.

She said that the call was necessary because of increasing attacks on Nigerians and non-Nigerians alike in South Africa.

“The Federal Government of Nigeria should rise up to the occasion by having contingency plans to evacuate Nigerians within 24 hours to avoid us losing our citizens to these attacks.

“It is expedient to think of where all Nigerians can gather within 24 hours for safety either in our embassy or mission for the safety of our citizens,’’ she said.

The lawmaker suggested that a concrete arrangement with some airlines should be made to evacuate Nigerians back home.

She also urged the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to equally mobilise to take care of the returnees.

Ukeje noted with concern that that the xenophobia was degenerating to Afrophobia as many black Africans, including Nigerians, were being attacked from Johannesburg to Durban.

She advised the Nigerian government against delay till some of her citizens are killed in the latest attacks before implementing its citizen diplomacy policy.

“Unfortunately, there is no serious condemnation from South Africa government on this attacks, hence the need for Nigerian government to be proactive and rescue her citizens as soon as possible,’’ she said.

She expressed surprise that South Africa that housed African Parliament and other institutions of Africa in the continent could descend so low to the extent of her nationals attacking other Africans living in that country.

Ukeje said her committee was in close contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to see what could be done to protect Nigerians in South Africa, while the House is to engage relevant stakeholders on the matter.

Rep. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora, also told NAN on phone that a motion on the issue would be tabled during the plenary session of the House.

Dabiri-Erewa (APC-Lagos) condemned the attacks on Nigerians living in South Africa, saying it was disgusting for South Africans to be treating Nigerians like that despite the Nigeria’s role during the apartheid struggle.

NAN reports that Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro, Minister of State II, for Foreign Affairs, has said that no Nigerian was killed in the attack against foreigners in South Africa.

“We are following the developments in South Africa and efforts are being made to protect Nigerian citizens in South Africa,’’ Obanikoro assured.

Malawi To Evacuate Citizens From South Africa

Foreigners have been arming themselves after coming under attack
Malawi says it will repatriate its nationals from South Africa, following an upsurge in xenophobic violence.

At least five foreigners, including a 14-year-old boy, have been killed in attacks in South Africa's coastal city of Durban since last week.

Some foreign-owned shops in the main city Johannesburg have shut amid fears that the violence could spread.

Zimbabwe has also condemned the attacks, blamed on locals who accuse foreigners of taking their jobs.

Tens of thousands of foreigners, mostly from other African states and Asia, have moved to South Africa since white-minority rule ended in 1994.

At least 62 people died in xenophobic attacks that swept South Africa in 2008.

The government has ordered police to step up efforts to protect foreigners
Malawi is the only country which has so far decided to repatriate its citizens.

Information Minister Kondwani Nankhumwa said the first group would return at the weekend.

About 420 Malawians are reportedly living in refugee camps in Durban after fleeing the violence, he said.

The BBC's Raphael Tenthani reports from Blantyre that he received a call from a Malawian in Durban who said he saw some Malawians being killed - including a close friend who was burned alive.

Local gangs accuse foreigners of taking their jobs

Foreigners have shut their shops in Johannesburg to prevent looting
Mr Nankhumwa called on the African Union (AU) and the Southern African Development Community (Sadc) to intervene to help protect foreigners.

"This is unfortunate coming at a time we are working on regional integration," he said at a press conference.

"We urge the government of South Africa to protect foreigners," he added.

Standing in the middle of a football field that has been turned into a refugee camp overnight in Durban's Chatsworth township, one cannot help but feel ashamed of being South African.

There are white and green tents dotted around housing destitute African migrant families who fled the violence meted out to them by their South African hosts.

Two weeks ago locals began attacking and looting properties owned by fellow Africans, calling them "kwerekwere", a derogatory word for African migrants.

I did not even have to ask Memory Mahlatini, a Zimbabwean who works as a nanny, what happened to her because her story was written all over her face.

Her eyes alone made me look down in shame as she explained how a group of South Africans came to her rented home last Monday evening just as they were preparing to sleep and demanded that they go back to where they came from.

In total, the violence has left about 5,000 foreigners homeless in Durban, the main city in South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal province, local media reports.

On Wednesday, the violence spread to the province's second city, Pietermaritzburg, where foreign-owned shops were looted.

Verulam, a town about 30km (18 miles) north of Durban, has been hit by similar violence.

The government has ordered police to step up patrols to prevent the violence from escalating.

The governing African National Congress (ANC) said in a statement that South Africans should "hang our heads in shame in the face of these misguided and misplaced assaults".

Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini has been accused of fuelling xenophobia after he was widely quoted as saying at a meeting last month that foreigners should "please go back to their countries".

He denied being xenophobic and claimed he had been mistranslated.

South Africa's official unemployment rate stands at 24%, but some analysts believe that it is much higher.

Sierra Leone Re-Opens Schools Nine Months After Ebola Outbreak

Sierra Leone has now re-opened all her educational institutes of learning across the country.  The schools were shut down about nine months ago when the deadly Ebola virus hit the country and has killed over 10,000 Africans.

Some students were however glad that the schools are now opened, while some said, they felt the government should have waited for WHO to declare the country free of the virus before asking them to come back to school. The government has also however advised students to practice what it calls “avoid-body-contact-method” to ensure their safety in schools.

Infectious Disease Outbreak Kills Over 25 In Ondo, Health Officials Claim It Is Not Ebola

An outbreak of a strange ailment has claimed more than twenty five lives in Ode Irele in Irele local government area of Ondo State, a community leader has told SaharaReporters.

Ondo state commissioner of health, Dayo Adeyanju claims disease outbreak not "Ebola"
Sahara Reporters Media
In a telephone interview with our correspondent, the community leader, Ayodele Omole, stated that the “strange ailment” broke out on Wednesday morning and had already created panic among residents, adding that many people were fleeing from the community. In a radio broadcast, the Ondo State Commissioner for Health, Dayo Adeyanju, confirmed the outbreak, but assured residents that it was not Ebola.

Even though the source of the epidemic has not been determined, Mr. Omole stated that many residents had blamed it on an “evil spiritual attack.”

“We noticed the strange ailment yesterday (Wednesday),” said Mr. Omole. “Several people lost their sight before they died instantly.

“As at the last count, in the early hours of today (Thursday), more than 25 dead bodies were counted in the streets of Irele.

“Unlike yesterday, people are now scared of carrying the bodies because of fear of infections. Some residents have fled the community for Ore town while others are planning to leave for Akure for total safety.”

He stated that, in addition causing blindness, the unknown disease also caused victims’ tongues to swell abnormally, rendering the victims incapable of speech, prior to death within a few hours.

Mr. Omole said many in the community saw the ailment as having “a spiritual cause,” adding that they believed it was beyond the control of state health officials. He added that the residents were hoping that some traditional healers would quickly come in to help.

A young resident in the town said the gods in the community were angry because “some section of the shrine was recently destroyed and some sacred objects stolen by unknown people.” He said some worshipers of the deity and traditional priests were meeting to discover those behind the theft.

Meanwhile, the state government has confirmed the outbreak of the “unknown disease,” adding that it was on top of the situation.

In a broadcast on a state-owned radio station in Akure, the state capital, the Ondo State Commissioner for Health, Mr. Adeyanju, said the ravaging disease was not Ebola as some feared. The commissioner stated that health officials and equipment had been deployed to the community to curtail the spread of the strange disease.

“The community outbreak team informed us yesterday morning of disease outbreak in Irele. The unknown disease isn't Ebola as it doesn’t manifest any of its symptoms, but only attacks the central nervous system of the victims.

“We can’t really say what is responsible for this ailment. It was clear that those who had died had no symptoms of vomiting or diarrhea,” said Mr. Adeyanju, adding that the symptoms of the ailment included headaches and loss of sight prior to death.

“The disease has been spread to the whole town and it has been very difficult to trace it to a particular source because it had already spread across the whole local government of Irele,” he said.

The health commissioner disclosed that investigations had commenced to determine the cause and source of the strange epidemic stressing that blood samples from some victims have been taken to a laboratory in Lagos for tests.

The epidemic has claimed two more victims today by noon

South African Police Caught On Camera Laughing While Woman Burns To Death (Graphic Photo)

At least five people have been killed and hundreds forced to flee their homes in one of South Africa’s worst outbreaks of xenophobic violence in years, authorities said on Tuesday.

Most of the recent unrest occurred in and around the coastal city of Durban, where police said two foreigners and three South Africans were killed.

The dead included a 14-year-old boy who was allegedly shot during looting on Monday night and died at a hospital, police colonel Jay Naicker said.

In this disturbing pic, a South African police officer is seen smiling at the camera while the body of a suspected foreigner, is gruesomely charred to death in the xenophobic attack.

Tenant Strangles Landlord Over Electricity Bill

When Madam Saidat Ishola had a scuffle with one of her tenants in Mowe, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, following a disagreement over electricity bill, she did not have any foreboding that the incident would eventually claim her life.

Ishola and Shakirat, a 33-year-old mother of two had allegedly engaged each other in fisticuffs over the disconnection of power supply to the tenant’s apartment due to her inability to settle her electricity bill.

Shakirat was said to have been infuriated when she woke up that morning and discovered that of all the tenants in the house, it was only her own apartment that had no electricity supply and in her attempt to get the situation rectified, a fight broke out between her and the landlady.

Although the two were separated and the matter resolved, Shakirat who felt humiliated remained bitter and aggrieved. But unknown to Ishola who thought the matter was over, Shakirat who was still boiling internally had a plan to take back her own pound of flesh. And hours after the fight, Shakirat got that chance when the landlady decided to take a nap that afternoon. As the landlady was enjoying her sleep, Shakirat allegedly went stealthily into her apartment and suddenly grabbed her neck, strangulating her to death.

A pregnant relation of the landlady who saw Shakirat as she grabbed Ishola’s neck and made to rescue her was also said to have been over-powered by the rampaging mother of two. Immediately she accomplished her “mission”, Shakirat vanished into thin air

Policemen from Mowe Police Divisional Headquarters later visited the scene  of the crime and took away the landlady’s corpse which they deposited at the morgue of the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu. Since then the police have been on the trail of the killer-tenant whose whereabouts have remained a mystery.

The son of the late landlady, Samson, recounted: “I had left home very early in the morning for my workshop. It was while I was in my workshop that someone told me to go back home, that one of our tenants was fighting with her.

“When I got home, I met my elder brother and some residents of the street who had already settled the matter, and so I returned to my workshop. After the matter had been settled, my mother went back to her apartment to freshen up and change her torn dress. It was while she was sleeping that our tenant sneaked into the living room and strangled her to death.

“When the suspect was strangling my mum, my uncle’s pregnant wife who was in the bedroom relaxing heard my mother cry and rushed out of the room, but she was overpowered by the tenant. Immediately she killed my mum, she ran away without taking anything from her room.”

The victim’s son however pleaded with the police to help fish out the runaway suspect so that she would not go scot-free after committing such a heinous crime.

A resident of the area who pleaded anonymity said the runaway killer-tenant lost her husband last year and had since been living in the house without paying any rent, following a plea made by the deceased landlady with her own husband to allow her to live in the property free-of-charge.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer,[PPRO], Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident. He said the suspect was “still at large. Up till now, we are still trying to get the tenant.”

Yes, I’ve Been Close To Death –Rykardo Agbo

He was born in Lagos but hails from Cross River State. Model cum actor, Rykardo Agbor, who started his career in 1992, has featured prominently in both English and Yoruba movies. The graduate of Mass Communication opens up to Entertainer on sundry issues. Excerpts:

How did you start acting?

My acting career started as far back as 1992 when one of my friends, Leo Merenini took me to an audition in Ojuelegba, Lagos. As fate would have it, I got picked for a sub-lead role, and the rest is history.

You are not Yoruba but you have featured prominently in Yoruba movies more than English, why?

(Smiles) Yes, I am not a Yoruba man but I feature in Yoruba movies very well. What I know is that, when I joined the industry, my spoken Yoruba was not good as this; people didn't believe that I could do it, but later people liked me and they started inviting me to feature in their movies. But I got invitation to feature in Yoruba movies more than English.

When you told your parents that you were going into acting, what was their reaction?

At first, my parents never wanted me to go into acting because they felt it was for dropouts. When I told them, they were not happy with me at all, they didn't want me to do it but I insisted. When they noticed that all their efforts to persuade me otherwise proved abortive, they left me alone. They said they would wait for the result, because to them I should be working in an office and earning good salary, which was more assured. But after some years, they started seeing my popularity. Today, they are proud of me and always pray for me to be greater.

For how long have you been in the industry and how many movies have you produced?

I’ve been in the industry for over two decades now and I’ve featured in quite a number of movies. But I have not shot any movie of my own.

Out of the movies you’ve acted, which one do you love most?

I love them all so I can’t place one above the rest. You know, it’s difficult for me to mention one or two that I love most. It’s like having four children and loving one most among them, but a good parent would not show it. A good parent would treat them equally. So, I love all my movies.

How many awards have you won to date?

Aaah, I have won many awards and I can’t mention all. But I can mention a few of them like City People award, Most Prominent Actor award (2012), YMAA Best Cross Over Actor (2013) and Cross River State Prestigious Award (2013).

How do you cope with your female admirers and have you ever come across a crazy one, if yes, what crazy thing did she do to you?

With female admirers one has to apply wisdom not to go overboard. Yes, I had one some years ago. She went on the social media to say people should stay away from me; that I am a fraudster, only because I refused to go down with her. To me, it was really shocking because God knows I had never met with the girl in question. She did such a thing because I refused her advances. However, she got serious tongue lashing from other fans that I didn't need to fight her at all. So for me, it’s always God fighting my cause. She eventually came back begging me to forgive and forget.

Does your wife love your profession or she didn't have a choice than to like it?

My wife has been so wonderful to me. She has always loved my acting career, likewise my kids. My wife is my biggest fan because she likes what I am doing and she’s always waiting for my movie to be released. She would watch and criticise the movie constructively. For me, aside God, it’s only my wife that believes and supports my dream to be an actor.

What do you do apart from acting?

Other than acting, I do occasional buying and selling of any kind of goods. I don’t rely on acting alone.

What can you say you’ve achieved since you debuted in the industry?

Achievements are best evaluated by others and not by one self. I believe the job one does to feed his family and meet other important responsibilities is by the grace of God, so one should thank the Lord for giving the grace.

When was your happiest moment?

My happiest moment was when the doctor told me that my wife had delivered a set of twins. I was so excited that day; my heart was filled with joy. I looked at myself and said Baba emi le seyi fun tan (Father, you've done this much for me?).

Tell us about your saddest moment and have you been close to death?

My saddest moment was when I lost my mom. Yes, I have been close to death once. I was so sick and they had to pass 36 drips into my body in a day to bring me back to life. That was in 1992.

How do you spend your leisure time?

I spend my leisure time with my family and friends. If I am not at work, I stay with my wife and kids. I love kids so much, most especially, my children.

What are you working on now?

Currently, I’m shooting a movie in Ibadan called ‘Koboko’ directed by Uzodimma Opkeche. It would soon come out and I beg all my friends and fans to get their copies immediately it comes out. I pray that God will continue to bless them.

What are your fears?

My major fear was thinking that actors were poor, and that the profession doesn’t offer benefits after retirement. But I thank God that our association’s president, Prince Dele Odule is working on that and I believe it would materialise very soon.

Bobbi Kristina Brown Is Quiet And Peaceful Says Family

Bobbi Kristina Brown’s family have “all cried out” over the star’s condition, but says she is “peaceful.”

Whitney Houston’s daughter remains on life support in a rehabilitation centre in Georgia three months after being found unconscious in her bathtub.

A family source said: “It’s quiet and peaceful. The family has brought some things from home for her. Nothing much – just a few things, like a blanket and some pictures.”

The source continued: “Everyone’s all cried out by now. We love her and want her to recover.”

Reports have it that Bobbi Christyina’s 81-year-old grand mum gave an interview where she thanked the family’ supporters as the 22-year-old’s condition remained unchanged.

“I feel every bit of it. I truly do,” she said of the ongoing prayers for Bobbi Kristina.

Bobbi, who is the daughter of Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston, is in a medically-induced coma and Cissy has said there is “not a great deal of hope” but the family continue to pray.

Bobbi Kristina was transferred to a private rehabilitation centre from the Emory University Hospital in Atlanta last month.

“If he works a miracle, thank God,” she said. “If it happens the other way, I’m alright,” Bobbi Christina’s 81 year-old grand mum added.

Update On Kidnapped Kids: Maid Has Been Arrested, Family Claims They Paid A Ransom

23 year old Mary Akinloye, the maid who kidnapped the three Orekoya boys has been arrested. Speaking on Channels TV this morning, the Lagos state Police Commissioner, Kayode Aderanti, said she was arrested yesterday night but did not say where she was arrested.

Meanwhile, Senior Apostle Abraham Adekunle, the maternal grandfather of the Orekoya boys, claims a ransom was paid for the release of his grandchildren

“For the eight days that the children were taken away, we did not rest. But yesterday (Monday), they called us and said we should send the money to them. They sent their account number to us. Immediately they collected the money, they called us and said they had dropped the children at Egbeda.” he told Punch.

Shocking Graphic: Burglars Hacked To Pieces With A Samurai Sword After Their Victim Fought Back

49 year old Dias Costa defended his home from four armed burglars by hacking them to pieces with a Samurai sword when they invaded his home in Cordoba, central Argentina late at night.

According to a report by Mail Online, Costa slashed the face, arms, and necks of the raiders, who fled the property in a getaway car while dripping with blood. All of the men are currently in intensive care.

The man and his wife were asleep when the men, who were armed with two pistols, broke in at around 3.30am.

Police commissioner Mariano Zarate said:

‘In a moment when the attackers were not paying attention, the house owner took a samurai sword and defended himself, injuring the attackers and making them run away.’

The thieves fled in a Peugeot 206 car which was parked outside.

Bleeding heavily, the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a stationary car forcing all four to go to hospital for emergency treatment.

Police initially arrested two men and one woman, but another man who hid was forced to come back to hospital the next day due to serious sword injuries.

The Costa family has moved in with relatives as they fear they might be targeted in revenge attacks.

Prosecutor Jorgelina Guties said: ‘We could not yet question the victim of the burglary as he is still in a state of shock’. See more graphic photos after the cut.

Jubilation As Orekoya Kids Return Home

There was joy on the Orekoyas’ Lawanson, Surulere, Lagos home yesterday following the return of their kidnapped children.

The children Ademola (6), Adedamola (4) and Aderomola (11 months) were released by their abductors on Tuesday night; they reunited with their parents around 9p.m.

It was learnt that the family paid a ransom for the boys’ release. The undisclosed amount was paid into a bank in Sagamu, Ogun State, before the children were released in Shasha, Egbeda, Lagos.

Their parents were told to where to pick them up.

On realising that the Orekoyas could not afford the initial N13 million ransom, the kidnappers, it was learnt reduced the sum and told them of how to make it available.

A source told The Nation that the search for the kids climaxed on Tuesday, with their father, Adeleke Orekoya, going to Sagamu to pay the ransom.

The family, the source said, met the toddlers unclad at the address given by the kidnappers later that night.

But, the police are claiming to have outgunned the kidnappers to rescue the boys.

The kidnappers, police spokesman Kenneth Nwosu, a Deputy Superintendent (DSP), claimed fled under police superior fire power, and abandoned the children.

The police, he said, swooped on the abductors following detailed intelligence and cutting edge technology.

Nwosu said no one was killed or injured in the encounter. No arrest was also made.

Reliving how the kids were found, their aunt, Mrs Adesumbo Alabi said:  ‘’It was after they called the family on (Tuesday night), I can’t be specific  about the time but it was in the night that they found the children. They were all naked on the road. They were asked to go and pay some money at a bank in Sagamu. After paying the money, in the night they now called them (Orekoyas) and told them to go to Egbeda. They described the place for them.

‘’So they went there in the night and found the children. They were all naked and alone. Immediately they got there and saw the children, they took them to the hospital, (Cottage Hospital/Comprehensive Health College, inside Police College, Ikeja).

‘’The kids were not well fed by their abductors. They looked malnourished, traumatised with rashes and mosquito bites on their bodies. They were left bare footed but we thank God that they are alive.’’

The children’s grandfather, Apostle Adegoke Adekunle while jubilating over the safe return of the boys, claimed that the police initially frustrated rescue efforts.

He said but for the intervention of the Commissioner of Police, Kayode Aderanti, who ordered the Divisional Police Officer, Itire to act swiftly, policemen were unwilling to take the kids’ mother’s complaint.

‘’I am happy today because I know I have not done evil to anybody. God whom I serve has rescued my grandchildren for me. When I was called that they have been kidnapped, I did not know what to do but I knew I have God. I went to churches to pray and I thank God today that they are safe.

‘’We did many things with police. The commissioner came here. He was the one who called the DPO demanding an investigation into the case. The Investigating Police Officer (IPO) who recorded my daughter’s statement just dropped the paper until the commissioner called the DPO about the matter.

‘’After the commissioner’s call, both the DPO and station officer came to the house and I scolded the IPO who took the first statement for his unprofessional attitude. So, another policeman was sent to come and take statement and a police team was sent from Alausa as well,’’ he said.

In the morning yesterday, it was celebration galore at the Orekoyas’ home as well-wishers gathered to thank God.

The Orekoyas in a Thank You message posted on social media around midnight gave God the glory.

The message reads: “We give God all the glory. Our Orekoya missing kids have been found. Thank you so much everyone for your prayers, moral and financial support all along. The list is endless, of awesome mothers, sisters, colleagues, business partners; father’s and even kids too. You have been amazing! May God grant all your hearts’ desires too? Much love always. You will not lose your children.”

Shouts of congratulations! “Thank you, God,” rang out at the Orekoyas’ home during the jubilation.

“God has answered our prayers. He did not disappoint us with the rescue of the children. This, we pray, will be the beginning of uncountable good things from God to this family,” an in-law of the Orekoyas said.

There were praise songs and worship; some had theirs in the sitting room; the kids’ grandparents and few family members stayed in a bedroom.

Adekunle thanked The Nation for its consistency on the reports, saying, the paper did well.

The Nation observed that the children have shortly after their return home yesterday, the children promptly got back to their routine and were happy to be home.

Ademola, who opened the door for our reporters, was busy playing with an IPAD on the dining table with his brother, Michael; Adedamola jumped from one part of the house to the other.

Ademola, a Basic one pupil, told our reporters that their abductors did not torture them but removed their clothes.

Mr Orekoya addled 11-month-old Aderomola and declined interviews because he is still bonding with his children so as to “observe changes in them”.
