Alibaba Gets Sued By Gucci For Fakes Again

Alibaba is getting sued again by Kering, a luxury brands group that includes Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent, over counterfeits on its popular e-commerce platforms.

The lawsuit, filed last week in New York, alleges that Alibaba (BABA, Tech30) and its related companies "knowingly encourage, assist, and profit from the sale of counterfeits on their online platforms...[and] make it possible for an army of counterfeiters to sell their illegal wares throughout the world," according to a copy of the filing.

Counterfeits have long been a headache for Alibaba, which operates China's most popular e-commerce shopping platorms, Taobao and Tmall. Co-founder Jack Ma has even called fakes a "cancer" to the company. And while Alibaba insists that it has continued to fight fakes -- taking down listings and even banning sellers -- counterfeits continue to be an uphill battle.

"Unfortunately, Kering Group has chosen the path of wasteful litigation instead of the path of constructive cooperation," said an Alibaba spokesperson. "We believe this complaint has no basis and we will fight it vigorously."

"There were at least three rival gang groups here this morning for whatever reason. As they were here, we had officers on scene. We expected issues," said Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton, a police spokesman. He later said there were at least five gangs.

The fight broke out at Twin Peaks restaurant and spilled into the parking lot. It quickly escalated from hands and feet, as weapons, to gunfire, Swanton said.

"In my nearly 35 years of law enforcement experience," he said, "this is the most violent and gruesome scene that I have dealt with."

My Wife Wasn’t A Model : Oshiomhole

Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has said that his new wife, Iara, was not a model professionally, although she is a model to him. He, meanwhile, said his new wife was not a replacement for his late wife, Clara, whom he said was irreplaceable.

Speaking at a thanksgiving Mass at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Auchi, yesterday, Oshiomhole denied reports that his wife is a ‘top model,’ saying the speculation might have been generated from her poise and beauty.

He said: “When I read newspaper stories and they said that I married a top model, I felt maybe they were referring to another person.

“The lady that God has directed to my path and heart to marry is not and was not a model. Of course, she looks beautiful and I understand that is why people assume that this kind of a lady must be a model. But, of course, she is a model to me and we hope and pray that we will be models in the eyes of our God and I think that is the most important thing.”
