4 Jailed For Insulting Police Officer At Kubwa Station

An Abuja Grade 1 Area Court has sentenced four persons to 10 months imprisonment, each, for insulting a police officer while performing his lawful duty at a Kubwa Police Station.

The accused, all of Phase 4, Kubwa, were convicted for joint act, intentional insult, inciting disturbance, deformation of character and public nuisance contrary to Sections 79, 399, 114, 391 and 198 of the Penal Code.

The police prosecutor, Ephraim Lukas, told the court that the accused, jointly in furtherance of a common intention, used insulting words on a police officer while on duty at a Kubwa Police Station, with intent to cause breach of peace and dent the image of the Nigeria Police Force.

He said during investigation, it was discovered they were under the influence of narcotics, having been found in possession of a bottle suspected to have contained some hard drugs.

When the charges were read to the accused, they pleaded guilty and sentenced to 10 months imprisonment by the presiding judge, Mohammed Marafa.

They were, however given an option of N10,000 fine each.

FCTA Resumes Demolition Of Unapproved Structures

The Department of Development Control of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is set to resume activities geared towards maintaining the FCT master plan by demolishing unapproved structures.

Mr Muktar Galadima, Head of Monitoring and Enforcement of the Department of Development Control, gave the indication when he spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

Galadima said that the department had cut down on its activities in the past few months due to the general elections. He said that demolition of illegal structures and shanties took place in Gwagwalada, after the elections. “You will observe that the department has been inactive for some time due to the general actions, but we commenced work in Gwagwalada immediately after the elections. “Several shanties and illegal structures in Gwagwalada were removed in our operations last weekend, and we hope to move to Utako and Asokoro by this week,” he said.

Galadima advised residents to desist from erecting structures on plots that were not legally allotted to them. He also urged parties to always explore avenues for reconciliation to avoid demolition of structures. “There are various reasons for demolition of structures which mostly bother on legality.
“It is either the builder has encroached into somebody’s plot, or into the road corridor, while shanties and slums are demolished because they are not fit for habitation.

“In the case of Gwagwalada, we embarked on removal of shanties and illegal structures which have been investigated and established to be built on other people’s plots. “We prefer to settle disagreement among parties on land ownership by referring them to zonal land offices, but when they are not able to settle, we resort to demolition,’’ he said.

Mr Kalu Emetu, the department’s head of public relations, said that the development had been inactive for a couple of months as a result of the elections. Emetu said that the department was back to perform its mandate of maintaining the Abuja master plan. “We relaxed our activities as elections approached so that we are not perceived as having political motives. “Our men were, however, on the field performing other relevant functions during that period of seeming inactivity. “We have a time table of our activities in this regard, and after Gwagwalada, we will take enforcement activities to Utako and Asokoro in the coming weeks. “Now, we are back fully, and we call on developers to ensure that their drawings are duly approved before construction to avoid demolition,” he said.

Fear Grips Abuja Community As Gunmen Found In Nearby Forest

Fear grips residents of Gumanyi and some neighbouring communities in Kuje Area Council, weekend, as suspected gunmen allegedly relocated from a neighboring Tude village to a forest near the community.

A resident of Gumanyi community, who gave his name as Sunday Musa, said they have been living in fear for the past three weeks after discovering some armed men, suspected to be cattle rustlers, in a thick forest near the community.

He said a local hunter at the village narrowly escaped death last week after he ran into the gang while hunting for animals in the forest.

“An elderly man, who is a local hunter in the village, ran into them, last week and they snatched his locally made gun and cutlass. They asked him to show them any Fulani camp around the area but, luckily, he narrowly escaped and ran home,” he said.

According to him, the gunmen, in their large number, created a camp inside the thick forest, from where they come out in search of Fulani camps.

He said residents of the community, especially farmers, now visit their farms in fear, adding that they now go to their farms in group.

He alleged that the gunmen, sometimes, steal their yams at the farm.

“Farmers at neighbouring Gurufufu, Gatsana, Agwe and Jigba communities are also living in fear because of the activities of these people. We urge the council authorities to liaise with the police to see how they can dislodge them.”

City News recalls reporting cases of cattle rustling by gunmen in FCT with Kuje communities worst hit.

Efforts to get the reaction of the Rubochi Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Mr. Okeke Innocent, were not successful as his phone was switched off when City News  placed a call to him.

Also, a police officer at the station said the division was not aware of the incident but admitted that they were informed about invasion by some gunmen of Tude village, last month.

2 Die, 4-Year-Old Survives As Car Plunges Into River

Two persons lost their lives after a car plunged into a river, last Friday, at Sensenyi village, on the Abuja-Lokoja expressway.

A 4-year-old boy and three others survived the accident as they were rescued by some fishermen.

A witness said the accident happened around 3:34 pm when the driver of a Nissan car with registration number XC 295 WRR, lost control of the wheels on a bridge fell into a river.

According to him, the driver and a passenger sitting in front died on their way to the hospital.

“Luckily, when the car fell inside the river, there are some men that were fishing at the river bank. These men rushed to rescue the victims with their canoe but on the way to the hospital, the driver and one of the passengers died,’’ he said.

City News learnt that the surviving victims were taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, where the corpses were also deposited.

Efforts to get the reaction of the Koton-Karfe unit commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) over the accident were not successful but an officer at the command confirmed the accident.

He said that before FRSC officials got report of the accident, the victims were rescued by sympathisers and taken to a hospital at Lokoja.

In another incident, three persons were also injured in another motor accident which occurred on Friday afternoon at Kwaita village, on the Abuja-Lokoja expressway.

The Yangoji unit commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Assistant Commander Jeremiah M. Fada, who disclosed this to our reporter, Sunday, said the accident happened around 3:37 pm.

According to him, the accident involved an unmarked Pajero jeep, which had its tyre punctured and crashed into a ditch, saying the victims were taken to Kwali General Hospital.

Appeal Court Orders FRSC To Reinstate Dismissed Staff

The Court of Appeal sitting in Benin, Edo State, has ordered authorities of the Federal Road Safety Commission,  FRSC, to reinstate Messers A.O. Oboh and N.M.Chukwukelu to their former positions, describing the termination of their appointments by FRSC as unlawful.

The appellants, through their counsel, Monday Agienoje, being dissatisfied with the judgment of the lower court which dismissed their case of unlawful termination of their appointments by the FRSC, approached the appellate court.

The appellants were said to have been arrested by a surveillance team led by Commander Agbakoba for  alleged bribery and corruption and had their appointments terminated after undergoing trial at the Abuja Headquarters of FRSC.

In a unanimous judgment read by Justice Hamma Barka, the appellate court said that their reinstatement to their former positions by the FRSC was not prejudicial to any promotions they might have enjoyed during the period of their unlawful termination.

The court held that it was quite clear that the appellants’ employment was governed by statute, adding that their services were covered by the Federal Service Rules.

The court held: “It is trite, therefore, that an employee clothed with statutory flavour must be terminated only in accordance with the manner prescribed by the relevant statute and any other manner of termination or dismissal inconsistent with the statute renders the termination  null and void.”

The court resolved the issues canvassed in favour of the appellants.

Why I Prefer To Rob At Ceremonies -- Drug Addict

A 50-year-old father of two from Ekiti State, who was arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, has said he preferred to rob during rallies, weddings, burials, house warming and child christening because it was easier.

The suspect, Tokunbo Ojo, who specializes in stealing money, laptops, phones and other valuables from parked vehicles at events, using a master key, was arrested after police received reports of his activities in Lagos and Ogun states.

Ojo said: “I prefer to rob at ceremonies such as political rally, wedding, burial and baby naming; anywhere with a large turnout of people. The larger the crowd, the better.

“My ordeal began when I started mingling with drug addicts. It was one Grema Mohammed that introduced me to drugs. Overnight, my desire for cocaine grew.

Addiction:

“It was actually my addiction to cocaine that led me into armed robbery because I need money to satisfy my insatiable cocaine lifestyle.

“I was a painter before I went into local 419. Later, I graduated into full-fledged robbery. I operated as a local 419 for several years. When people come to us with their problems, I introduce them to our leader who poses as a prophet or herbalist depending on the personality of the victim.

“I was arrested because I made a master key, which I use to open people’s vehicles and steal their belongings. I paid a welder N500 for the master key. I am a one-man squad.

Mode of operation:

“Usually, I attend functions and monitor people, who park expensive cars. Immediately a victim takes his or her seat I move to where the vehicle is parked, open it as if I am the owner and steal all the valuables inside.

“There was a time I stole N3.2 million from a parked vehicle during a campaign rally in Abeokuta, Ogun State. I used N2.2 million to buy a Toyota Highlander and then I used the balance N1 million to buy cocaine.

“Although my wife did not know I was into robbery, she got suspicious when I bought the Toyota Highlander. She kept asking how I got the money for the car, but I shunned her seriously.

“I had my first child, Tunde Ojo, a 26-year-old photographer, when I was in secondary school. My second child is still in primary school.”

Most Of Police Force Quits After Black Woman Elected Mayor

Most of the police force and several officials resigned after the small town of Parma, Missouri elected its first African American woman as mayor, reported KFVS.

Tyrus Byrd, a former city clerk, was officially sworn in as mayor on Tuesday after beating incumbent Randall Ramsey. Ramsey had served as mayor of Parma for 37 years under two terms.

The outgoing mayor said five of the city's six police officers submitted their resignation, citing "safety concerns." Parma's city attorney, clerk and water treatment supervisor also quit.
Some Parma residents say they aren't worried about safety now that the police force has shrunk. "I think it's pretty dirty they all quit without giving her a chance," resident Martha Miller told KFVS. "But I don't think they hurt the town any by quitting, because who needs six police for 740 people."

At her swearing in ceremony, Byrd said that she is looking to getting things in order for the city.

EFCC Arraigns Hacker For N68bn Theft

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, April 20, 2015 arraigned one Stephen Omaidu before Justice M. A Nasir of Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Jabi, Abuja on a two count charge bordering on theft to the tune of N68, 028, 000, 000.00 (sixty eight billion and twenty eight million naira).

Omaidu, in connivance with Alhaji K. B Kabiru, Godswill Oyegwa, Ben and Oliver (all at large) allegedly hacked into the server of a second-generation bank and transferred the sum of sixty eight billion, and twenty eight million naira into different accounts for personal gains.

The offence is punishable under section 287 of the Penal Code Act.

Following his “not guilty” plea, counsel to EFCC, S. A Ugwuebgulam asked the court to fix a date for trial to commence.

However, defence counsel, Gabriel O. Sanifu urged the court to admit the accused to bail pending trial saying, the offence is bail-able.

Ugwuebgulam objected to the application on the ground that the accused had failed to honour the administrative bail terms earlier granted him by the Commission and could do same if not remanded by the court.

Justice Nasir ordered the accused to be remanded in the custody of the EFCC and adjourned the case to April 28, 2015 for ruling on the bail application.

“I Was There Before Your Fame, Respect Me"-Oritsefemi's Fiancee Fires Back

This morning, Oritsefemi shared a photo of his fiancee and called her out as her the one behind his instagram account hack.(Here)..He didn't even mention who she was to him.The lady named Blessing Rewa is his fiancee and they have been together for 5 years..Hurt by his actions, she took to instagram to write a lengthy note to him.

“My attention was called to a post on instagram this morning by some friends. My fiancee of five years put me on the blast and accused me of hacking his IG page, this is really surprising to me as I wasn’t around him when his phone got hacked or in Lagos, neither do I have the password to his IG account. How I could have hacked a personal phone that I don’t own beats me. I will never betray you like this Femi, I have always resolved to settling our issues in private no matter how bad it is. I can understand if you want to end the relationship and move on with your life , I’d accept that as the will of God but you don’t need to disgrace me publicly and drag my name to the mud all because of fame.

We suffered together and I was there before your claim to fame and still stood by you when God started blessing you because I know you truly deserve to be rewarded for all your years of hustling and hardwork. I am writing this openly and demand you delete that post and show some respect to me and the years we spent together which is now a bad memory for me. How can you be so heartless and cruel. When you called to say you googled to know who hacked your IG page and my name was mentioned I laughed thinking it’s one of your pranks. I deserve some respect, the same one have shown you all these years. You bring me down and make me look like the villain while you become the hero. You should be ashamed of yourself for betraying my trust and love but instead you turn this around and put me on the blast so the world can overlook your shortcomings and focus on me. God sees It all.”

Gunmen Kill El-Rufai's Campaign Coordinator In Kaduna

"His family informed us that unknown gunmen stormed his residence and shot him several times. The men, two in number, were well armed and did not pick any property in his residence except carrying out the ungodly act. The Police have confirmed the incident. Kashamu To Tinubu: Be A True Democrat

Press statement from the office of Buruji Kashamu. Read:

My attention has been drawn to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reaction to the innocuous congratulatory messages that I sent to him and other leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the aftermath of the general election.

First, I must say that I doubt if the statement was approved by him. However, if it was, I must state that I am taken aback by the unwarranted attacks against me as if we were still campaigning. It is unbecoming of someone of his stature and calibre.

For me, it is high time politicians and leaders rose above petty issues and raise the bar in constitutional democracy. We should not just be democrats in words but also in deeds. We should play politics without bitterness.

It is on record that no Nigerian politician has taken former President Olusegun Obasanjo to the cleaners even as a sitting President like Asiwaju Tinubu did. Yet, Chief Obasanjo forgave him. As for me and Baba Obasanjo, he remains my father and leader, just as I am his son and follower. At no time did I abuse Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.

As a true party man, I campaigned vigorously for my party and its candidates. Now, the elections are over, and as a true sportsman, I thought I should congratulate those who won. Short of any praise-singing, what I said in the congratulatory message that they chose to react to a week after it published was that there was no way anyone can wish away the achievements of Asiwaju Tinubu in the nation’s political annals, particularly in Yoruba land.

Part of the message also reads: “Although I now belong to the opposition, your achievements transcend political divides and I am not ashamed to publicly acknowledge them. “I salute your courage, commitment, doggedness, forthrightness and tenacity of purpose even in the face of daunting opposition and challenges. “By your sheer wit and unwavering commitment to democratic ethos, true federalism and economic prosperity, you led the Alliance for Democracy (AD) from a one-party state to a regional party, and now a national party that is about to form the government at the centre.”

Now, how do these translate to praise-singing? Are they not facts of history that I merely adumbrated?

He accused me of purchasing my election with money, the appropriate forum to prove that is the election petitions tribunal and not the pages of newspaper.

On the U.S case, I wish to state for the umpteenth time that the United States as the bastion of democracy and the Rule of Law would not lend itself to any form of abuse of the fundamental human rights of an innocent soul, especially one that has been arrested, tried and freed by its most trusted ally – the United Kingdom.

I am not running from any trial. All I have asked is for the relevant parties to follow due process – if they believe that I yet have a case to answer.

I believe in the supremacy of the almighty Allah who frustrates the signs of liars and makes fools of diviners, who turns wise men back and makes their knowledge foolish. He is the ultimate decider of the fate of all mortals. When He says yes, no man can say no and when He says no, no man can say yes!

I stand with the almighty Allah Subhana Wa Tala. He is the protector of all men. He is my refuge and shield. Let no one play God!

Signed
Prince Buruji Kashamu

Senator-elect, Ogun East Senatorial District

Goat With Six Legs Born In China

A 20-day-old goatling was born with four forelegs and two hind legs in Chaohu, Anhui Province, eastern China. The unusual animal, who was nicknamed a spider goat, was born to two normal goats and his owner is still wondering what caused the mutation. See Photos Below;

Xiao Qibin, owner of the six-legged baby goat, started running his farm about a year ago and owns more than 400 goats, but only this one became the talk of the country. This six-legged kid has become a star animal in China since it was born 20 days ago Mr Xiao said: “During the labour, I saw the nanny goat was having difficulty. I saw two legs came out at first, but surprisingly another four followed when the kid was fully born.”

Miss Ge, an employee at Xiao Qibin’s farm, takes care of the playful baby goat every day
At first he wasn't sure if the mutant goat, which weighed 5kg at birth, would survive. But over time the extraordinary creature developed an astonishing appetite and now is growing quickly and healthily. Besides, he has become one of the most playful goats on the farm.

Mr Xiao said the goat is growing quickly and has become one of the most playful animals on the farm. The kid’s six legs were of similar length initially, but as he grew two of the forelegs became shorter than the rest and can no longer touch the ground. He said he will not take the kid to the vet to remove the two extra legs. “I want him to grow up naturally and happily,” said Mr Xiao.

The mutation in animals is becoming quite normal nowadays as more and more weird creatures appear: a piglet who was born with 8 legs, a lamb born with four eyes, two noses and two mouths,  a cyclop lamb with only one eye, two-headed snake and many more. More photos.....

13-Year-Old Boy Gets Life In Jail For Murder Stamp On His Own Mother

A 13-year-old boy has become one of Britain’s youngest ever convicted murderers and received a life sentence for killing a mum and stamping on her head, in Smethwick, West Midlands, England, UK.

The sickening incident was caught on CCTV
Sick Petri Kurti battered Glynis Bensley with a punch to head and then continued to drive his foot into her face. Following the vile attack in September last year, he then stripped the victim of her money, mobile phone, cigarettes and jewellery. Kurti then stamped on her head leaving a visible mark with his trainer on her face.

It was discovered that the boys had planned the robbery just a fortnight before via text. The evil teen was then overheard boasting about what he had done in a nearby park. Ms Bensley was found dead in a pool of blood in the gutter just moments after the 30-second beating. A post-mortem examination revealed Ms Bensley died as a result of a severe bleed to the brain.

Glynis’ family have finally seen justice served today
Paying tribute to Ms Bensley, her three siblings said they believed she was “in the wrong place at the wrong time”. Her sister Dawn, 56, said: “We are a very close and supportive family and always look out for each other. Glynis was my only sister and best friend, I thought we would grow old together. She loved working for charities. She just liked to help people, she would help anybody. They are cowards, the way they did it. She was an easy target. It could have happened to anybody. Justice has been done.”

Kurti handed himself into the police five days after the murder and unemployed Majid was arrested by detectives. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter and robbery but was found guilty of murder. He was sentenced to life behind bars and was ordered to spend a minimum of 12 years behind bars. Kurti was also sentenced to five years for robbery and 12 months, to run concurrently, for another street robbery carried out with his 25-year-old sister.

According to Daily Mail: Father-of-one Szilveszter, 24, who now lives in Bolton, feared he would never be able to have more children after the DIY procedure left him unable to have sex.

He said: “I had to stop having sex with my wife as it’s too painful. I would like to have more children but if I can’t have sex I may lose my family.

“Every day is difficult for me as it’s very painful and bleeding. This was the worst mistake in my life as I don't feel like a real man.” Hungarian born Szilveszter shares his story on the latest series of TLC show Extreme Beauty Disasters.

Woman Hires Assasins To Kill Husband

A 57-year-old man, Solomon Fasade, has pleaded with an Iyana-Ipaja Customary Court in Lagos to dissolve his 17-year-old marriage to Abosede. Mr Fasade, who lives in Ayobo, a Lagos suburb, is accusing his wife of waywardness and threatening his life.

He claimed that she brought another man to their house. “Two years after I was robbed, I later got to know my wife arranged armed robbers to my house and went as far as asking them to kill me,” he said.

When the court’s President, Mrs Shalewa Banjoko, asked him how he got to know this, he said: “It was a neighbour who told me the insect that eats up a leaf lives on the leaf. I was confused and shocked.”

The defendant, Mrs Fasade (43), said the only reason her husband thinks she is a flirt is because she sells alcoholic drinks. “I sell alcoholic drinks in front of my husband’s house but I am not an harlot,” she said.

She said she never planned to kill her husband. “I will never kill him because he has been responsible for the upkeep of the children I had from my previous marriage. If it was my intention, I would have succeeded in doing so because I cook for him and we sleep together on the same bed. I will never do such. I still need my husband because he is a good man,” Mrs Fasade said.

Banjoko ordered the couple to be peaceful and adjourned the matter till Thursday.
