The King With 100 Wives

Abumbi II, the 11th fon, or king, of Bafut, Cameroon, has close to 100 wives. They weren't all his to start. According to local tradition, when a fon dies, his successor inherits all his wives and then marries his own queens.

"The queens have a great role to play in the fondom," notes Prince Nickson, also of Bafut, noting that it is up to these women behind the man to shape him in his kingly role.

"Behind every successful man must be a very successful, staunch woman," says Abumbi's third wife, Queen Constance.

"Our tradition has it that when you are king, the elderly wives remain to hand down the tradition to the younger wives, and also to teach the king the tradition because the king had been a prince, not a king."

Senator Ben Bruce Donates His Wardrobe Allowance To Osun State Workers And Widows

Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has announced his decision to donate his wardrobe allowance to the unpaid 'Osun State Workers and Widows'.

He made this known in a series of tweets on Twitter. In his words; ' I Ben Murray Bruce, will not sit down idly while my fellow citizen die because salaries have not been paid.'

' As a first step, I am immediately donating my wardrobe allowance to unpaid workers in Osun State and widows in my constituency.'

Ben Bruce Under Fire On Twitter Over N8.64b National Assembly Wardrobe Expenses

Ben Bruce, the Senator who represents Bayelsa East Senatorial District, has said that he is not aware of N8.64 billion of the National Assembly budget that was set aside for wardrobe expenses.

Bruce had previously said that he would do all that he could to fight corruption and unnecessary spending in the National Assembly.

On May 31st, 2015 Bruce wrote on his twitter account, "I'm fighting the corrupt elite. I'm 59. The worst they can do is to take me out, so what?"

Today, after the release of the budget for the upcoming year, hundreds of tweets were tweeted at Bruce directly. He responded with. "I only control my actions. The best I can do is influence the actions of my colleagues in the Senate. Nations change over time not overnight."

Ondo Regent : I Was Forced To Sleep Under A Cocoa Tree

The Regent of Akungba Akoko, in Akoko Southwest Local Government Area (LGA) of Ondo State, Princess Oluwatoyin Omosowon, has regained her freedom. 

Princess Omosowon, who was abducted on the 2nd of June, was set free on Tuesday by her abductors from the combined efforts of the Joint Task Force (JTF). 

The JTF included men of the State Security Service (SSS), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Nigeria Army (NA), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC). 

A member of the JTF, who was part of the rescued team told newsmen in Akure that the Regent was freed at Arimagija, near a bush in Ifon, Ose LGA of the State. 

"The bush burst ‎out to Edo State and it was a thick one. We have to locate where they kept them and we shot sporadically to scared the kidnappers away," the security officer said. 

Community Panics Over Decaying Body In Lagos State-Owned Garden

Residents of Ibukun Oluwa Community in the Oworonshoki area say they are scared that a decaying corpse in the Lagos State owned parks and gardens in the area may cause an epidemic.

The residents said the corpse had been abandoned at the gardens since Saturday, adding that efforts to get health workers to remove it had been abortive.

They said they feared that the body could blow up if nothing was done on time.

The stench from the corpse had filled the whole community. The decomposing body was balanced on one of the steel benches constructed at the gardens, located near the entrance into Ogunnaike Street. Passersby quickly covered their nostrils and raced into the community immediately the odour hit them.

The victim, who people call Peter, had been living under the bridge for the past four years and no one knew his family members. He has been around the community for the past four years. He did not seem to have any mental problem.

Inventor of 'Cancer Goggles' Receives St. Louis Award

One year after "cancer goggles" were first used in a successful breast cancer operation, Dr. Samuel Achilefu is still getting emails from surgeons all over the world, hoping for a chance to use them.

“We’ve been inundated,” he said from his desk in Washington University’s Mallinckrodt Institute, hours before receiving the 2014 St. Louis Award for his invention.

Achilefu counts 27 surgeries where his technology has been worn by doctors operating on patients with breast cancer, liver cancer and melanoma. An injected dye reacts with infrared light to make cancerous tissue light up, helping surgeons locate the tumor and separate it from healthy tissue.

He said he hopes the device becomes a cheaper, easier way for doctors to "see" tumors here and in the developing world. Because the goggles also project the surgeon’s view onto a computer screen, they could be adapted for use as a teaching tool.

Achilefu said the idea for the goggles was borrowed from other medical disciplines and born out of a need to reduce the number of instruments in a surgery room.

100 Killed By Boko Haram's Booby Trap In Monguno, Borno State

100 people were killed yesterday June 16th after a Boko Haram booby trap exploded in the heart of the Munguno market in Borno. According to KSM news, a Boko Haram member who disguised as a member of the state's JTF Vigilante group carried the booby trap into the market where it detonated and killed several people. According to reports, the Vigilante members had earlier engaged the sect members in a fight where they chased them out of their community.

While trying to escape, the sect members abandoned their weapons which included guns and other objects, one of which was a booby trap.

Eyewitnesses said that one of the sect member who disguised as a vigilante member picked the item up against the advise of other vigilante members. He walked into the busy market where the explosive detonated.

Ex-NFL Cheerleader Pleads Guilty to Raping 15-Year-Old Boy

Former Baltimore Ravens cheerleader Molly Shattuck, the estranged wife of former Constellation Energy CEO Mayo Shattuck has pleaded guilty to performing oral sex on a 15-year-old boy she “spotted” on Instagram, according to TMZ and the Associated Press.

Shattuck reportedly first found the boy on Instagram last year and began a physical relationship with him in a middle school parking lot in May. The two allegedly continued to meet over the summer, and in September, at a Delaware beach house the 48-year-old former cheerleader had rented for her kids and their friends, Shattuck allegedly performed oral sex on the boy twice, once outside the home and once in her bedroom, after providing him with liquor.

Teen's Photos Show Dog Licking Her “Vagina Approximately 30 Times"

An 18-year-old woman was arrested Friday in Bradenton, Florida, after police allegedly found 17 photos on her phone of the teen receiving oral sex from her pit bull.

The Smoking Gun reports that cops found the photos in a folder called “2-face fun” during an unrelated investigation earlier this month. Many of the photos showed a “canine performing oral sex on an unknown white female,” according to the police report. Miller later confessed that she was the woman in the photos and told police that her dog is named “2-Face.”

Miller eventually told officers that 2-Face had “licked her vagina approximately 30 to 40 times” since she bought in her in 2006. From the Smoking Gun:

Drunk Woman Stabs Neighbor With Rake for Calling 911 Over Loud Sex

According to the Kingsport Times-News, a Tennessee woman and her sex/crime partner were arrested for aggravated assault last week after the couple allegedly attacked a neighbor who reported their noisy boning to police.

Authorities say Erin Brooke Lawson, 32, and Johnny Allen Richards, 33, assaulted neighbor Mark Galin last Tuesday for calling 911 twice to complain about their loud sex. From The Smoking Gun:

After Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office deputies left the residence in Rogersville for the second time, Richards and Lawson allegedly attacked Galin at his apartment door.

As detailed in a police report, Galin told a deputy that Lawson “hit him with a rake and broke the handle.” She then allegedly stabbed him in the arm with the jagged handle. Richards, Galin added, struck him with a “2x2 stick.”

Irish Teen Blackmailed By Nigerian Gang Commits Suicide

The parents of a County Tyrone teenager who took his own life have said a Nigerian gang was blackmailing him over intimate photographs.

Gerard and Teresa Hughes said the gang demanded more than £3,000 from their son, Ronan, and then sent images of him to his friends on social media.

Speaking to the Irish News, they criticised police "inaction" after the 17-year-old revealed what was going on.

Police said they hoped to meet the family to discuss their concerns.

Det Ch Supt Brian Hanna said: "Our enquiries are continuing into what will be a complex and protracted investigation, and we will keep the family informed of any progress as appropriate.

"The office of the Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland is also best placed to deal with any complaints in relation to police actions."

Ronan's parents told the newspaper that his death, less than two weeks ago, could have been prevented.

A man reportedly took his girlfriend to his friend’s house in Lagos.

A few hours later, the lady ran out screaming for help, saying she had been raped. Few minutes later, the man, with blood all over his body, also ran out crying for help.

The girl, it was learnt, had blood on her clothes and she was given a cloth to cover herself.
When the man came out screaming, neighbours were shocked and that was when they realised that the girl bit off the man’s joystick and this was done with her teeth.

Winners’ Pastor Abductors Demand 80m Ransome

Fourty-eight hours after Pastor Seyi Adekunle, Pastor of the Winners Church, Airport branch, Calabar, was kidnapped in church, his abductors are demanding for N80 million ransom.

The kidnappers, according to a source in the church, made a phone call with the pastor’s phone at about 9p.m., Monday, to one of the pastors in the church, demanding N80 million naira before the pastor would be released.

The source said: “The people used Pastor Seyi’s phone to speak with one of our pastors at about 9p.m. on Monday and allowed the victim to speak to assure us that he was alive before one of them said if we want our pastor back, we should give them N80 million.”

The source, who said they had been instructed not to talk to the press, added that no amount had been offered to the captors as the phone call was very brief.

He said meetings were going on at the top hierarchy of the church in Calabar to know what next to do.

Kwara NYSC Member’s Suspected Killer Caught

Kwara State Police Command, yesterday, arraigned Abdullahi Tanko, the suspected killer of late Miss Idowu Yetunde Shukurat, a female National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, member, before Magistrate K. A. Yahyah in Ilorin.

The remains of late Miss Idowu Yetunde Shukura was found on the street in GRA, Ilorin, in May, having earlier left a shopping mall.

Angered by the mysterious death of the corps member, the Director General of NYSC in Abuja sent a delegation to Ilorin, the state capital, to meet the stakeholders, including the police, Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Sulu Gambari, and the state government, among others, on the need for synergy to unravel the mystery behind the death of the youth corps member so as to serve as deterrent to others.

Beninoise Cooks Drug Family 2 Weeks Into Employment

A Beninoise cook, yesterday, narrated how he drugged his boss’ family two months ago, in Lekki area of Lagos, to have free access into their inner rooms to steal jewellery and cash.

The incident, which happened two weeks after he was employed by one Omowunmi Fadojutimi, would have reportedly snuffed life out of her, her husband and two domestic workers but for providence.

The 34-year-old suspect, Victor Hounkpe, however, disclosed that the substance was given to him by David Amusu, who is also a Beninoise and former cook to the victim.

On April 22, Hounkpe was reportedly instructed to prepare vegetable soup by his unsuspecting boss. But he reportedly put a substance into the soup and served everyone.

Trouble started for the family after Fadojutimi’s husband, Mr. Nwogu Chinaka, developed severe stomach ache and reportedly collapsed. While his distraught wife was rushing him to a nearby hospital amidst severe pains, she also reportedly started feeling severe pains in the stomach, resulting in her collapsing in front of the hospital’s gate.
