Buhari Recalls Narrow Escape From Mob At Prayer Ground


President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday admitted that the heavy security cordon around him is not capable of protecting him.

He said only God can protect him from being harmed.

Buhari made the submission while granting audience to the Muslim community in the Federal Capital Territory that paid him the traditional Sallah homage at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The President recalled his experience earlier in the day when some youths, who were desperate to catch a glimpse of him at the prayer ground located on the Airport Road during the Eid-el-Fitri prayers, almost overwhelmed security operatives.

Amidst laughter from his guests, Buhari told the story of how he had to hold tight to his agbada and quickly rushed into his car.

He added that with what happened with Ronald Reagan during his time as United States President, it was clear that only God could protect leaders.

79-Year-Old Motorist Who Was Stabbed To Death In ‘Road Rage’ Attack After He ‘Crashed Into The Back Of Driver’s Classic Car’


A man said to be in his 30s stabbed a 79 year old man to death last night on the A24 road at Findon, West Sussex, UK after a minor crash. The pensioner was said to have crashed into the man’s car and he got out of the car to confront the old man. They began arguing and the young man stabbed the old man multiple times, got into his car and drove off. Other road users called police and paramedics.

An air ambulance crew and paramedics desperately carried out first aid on the pensioner, but he died at the roadside. Police are hunting the knifeman, who is described as a white man, aged between 30 and 40, 6ft tall, skinny with shoulder length brown wavy hair with a thin face.

Senator Shehu Sani Shares Foodstuff Worth Over N15 million, Camels And Cows


Senator Shehu Sani, on Thursday, July 16, distributed 12 camels, eight cows and general foodstuffs worth over N15 million to seven Local Governments under his zone. 

The Senator representing the Kaduna Central Senatorial district and also doubles as the the President, Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria, has revealed on Twitter that he shared some valuable items to the people in his contituency in celebration of Ramadam.

“Some shared Chickens, some shared Rams, Some Shared Goats, Some Shared Cows, Some shared Pigs, Some shared nothing, I choose to share camels!!!”, He tweeted.

While speaking to the people, he said: “People are saying that I am taking advantage of assisting people as a plan for 2019 governorship race. For now, my very important focus is to see how I use the opportunity of my senatorial seat to serve my people in conformity with the pledges and promises I made to them before the 2015 election.

“You can’t stop people from talking and praying for you, but for now I want to make sure that I please and appease them.

PDP Calls On America To Teach President Buhari The Tenets of Democracy


The PDP has mocked President Buhari by telling the United States of America and the international community to teach President Buhari and the ruling party to observe the tenets of democracy.

The National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, made this statement during visits to US’ National Democratic Institute and the International Republican Institute in Abuja on Thursday, July 16.

Metuh said PDP, having ruled Nigeria for 16 years, expected that respect for separation of power and other democratic agencies would continue.

Metuh said he was at the institutes to express PDP’s worries over some of the issues happening to the Nigeria democracy within the last two months.

"We are worried about attempt by our government to harass and influence the detention of the Senate’s Deputy President, Ike Ekweremadu," Metuh said.

Zimbabwe Pastor Uses 'Special Oil' To Open Girl's Sealed V*gina


Another very controversial Pastor in Harare, Zimbabwe, Prophet Walter Magaya, has caused massive confusion when a statement from his church claim his 'holy oil' managed to open a young girl's vagina that has been closed since her birth, reports My Zimbabwe.

The girl's grand mother who spoke to the online paper, said doctors had told her that there was nothing they could do about the sealed private part but that Prophet Magaya's anointing oil was all that was needed to work the miracle.

Magaya's church said in a statement:

"Mai Chinyoka's grandchild had no vaginal opening since birth and they sought medical help upon which they were told that it was completely closed up.

"On the 15th of May 2015, her mother brought her to church and by the special grace of God she had an encounter with the Servant of God Prophet W. Magaya who blessed her with the anointing oil and instructed her to administer on her child.

Revealed : 10-year-old Girl Among Those Responsible For This Morning Damaturu Attack


A statement from the Nigerian Army has revealed that a 10-year old was among the group that launched the bomb attack in Damaturu, Yobe state this morning. 

Already, 50 people have been confirmed dead in a twin suicide bomb blast that rocked Damaturu Yobe state this morning, Friday,July 17.

According to a statement released by the Acting-Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, an elderly woman and a 10 year old girl were responsible for the attacks.

"This is to confirm that there were two suicide bomb explosions today at about 7:40 a.m. in Damaturu, Yobe, in which two female suicide bombers — one elderly woman and a ten year-old girl –detonated the devices. It occurred at screening areas for intending Muslim worshippers at Layin Gwange, Damaturu and at Phase1, in front of former state secretariat, Damaturu,’’ the statement read.

Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday terminated the appointment of Mr. Patrick Ziakede Akpobolokemi as Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

The immediate termination of Mr. Akpobolokemi’s appointment was revealed by Femi Adesina, spokesperson for the President in a statement.

The former NIMASA DG was directed to hand over to the management of NIMASA and all government property in his possession to the most senior officer in the agency who will remain in charge until a new Director-General will be appointed.

The sack of Akpobolemi whose tenure at the Nigeria’s apex maritime regulatory agency has been riddled with controversies has long been expected.

Under the leadership of the former University lecturer, NIMASA had also become a major source of slush funds for carrying out discreet endeavors and initiatives at the behest of the administration of former President Jonathan.

Old Soldier Bags Life Imprisonment For Raping And Infecting 10-Year-Old Step-Daughter With HIV


An Ogun State High Court sitting at Isabo, Abeokuta, on Thursday, July 16, sentenced a retired soldier, Alabi Ibrahim, to life imprisonment for raping his 10-year-old step-daughter and infecting her with Human Immunodeficiency Virus, HIV.

He committed the crime in 2012 and was subsequently arrested and tried following intervention from the Ogun State Chapter of Child Protection Network (CPN), an umbrella body of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) that fight for the rights of children.

The report tendered by a medical practitioner, Dr. Seyi Adejobi, says that after the defilement, medical investigation revealed that the girl had been penetrated, and blood investigation also showed that she had HIV. The blood sample of the convict also tested positive for the virus.

Justice Abiodun Akinyemi, in his judgement, said the accused faces a one-count charge of having sexual intercourse with the child.

The offence, he said, was contrary to Section 3 of Child Rights Law. The judge said the court was convinced that the allegation against the accused had been proved beyond reasonable doubt.

Lekki Cleaner Leads An Armed Robbery Gang To Attack Residents


A man named Jasper who works as a cleaner in a building on Tony Oghenejode Close, off Omorinre Johnson Street, in the Lekki Phase 1 has led a robbery gang of 3 to attack Lekki residents. They reportedly robbed a lawyer, Adaku Ufere and her brother, Chukwuebuka in their neighbourhood.

Punch Metro gathered that the cleaner, connived with other suspects, Monday Daniel and Joseph Timileyin, to burgle the flat of the residents around 3am on June 23, carting away property worth N650,000.Some of the stolen items include, two laptops, a wrist watch and an iphone.

As they carted away with the valuables of the lawyer, she reportedly raised an alarm which led to the arrest of a member of their gang named Daniel. Laptops were recovered from him and the police took custody of the robber. His confession led to the apprehension of Timilehin. They attested to participating in several robbery operations in Lekki and the Victoria Island area of the state.

They confessed to robbing a top business woman resident at on Ihuntayi Street in Victoria Island named Jolomi Etabuko who lost valuables worth N2.2 million to the bandits during which she was severally stabbed.

Multiple explosions rocked the Yobe State capital, Damaturu, Phase  I, near Eid Praying ground, this morning, Friday, July 17.
 
According to Vanguard reports, the explosions are coming on a day when the new Chief of Army Staff, Major General Tukur Buratai declared that he will spend his Sallah celebrations in Damaturu.
 
Vanguard alo confirmed that praying grounds in the town are now deserted.
 
Meanwhile, security operatives and men of the anti-bomb squad have condoned off praying grounds to prevent further attacks.

APC Chieftain Murdered In Festac By Unknown Gunmen While Sharing Sallah Gifts


A group of armed men, yesterday, killed a chieftain of the  All Progressives Congress, Mr. Shalewa Daramola, at Festac Town, in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State, Vanguard reports.

The APC member in his 40s, was killed in front of the party’s secretariat located at 3rd Avenue, ‘K’ Close, House 12 Festac Town, where members of his party were sharing Sallah gift.

Daramola, who was the party’s Assistant Treasurer in Amuwo Odofin, was said to have just left to check his car, when one of the gunmen, in his 20s, emerged from an adjoining close and accosted him, demanding for money.

Apparently thinking the stranger was a beggar, Daramola was said to have told him he had no money.

The gunman was said to have shot Daramola four times at close range in the chest and, thereafter, jumped onto a waiting motorbike.

Time was 1.12p.m and nothing was reportedly taken from him.

INEC Registers New Political Party, Democratic Peoples Congress


The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has approved the registration of a new political party called the Democratic Peoples Congress’ (DPC).

This latest development brings the number of registered parties in the country to 29. 

The approval came at the end of Commission’s meeting, held on Friday 19th June, 2015.

In a letter addressed to the National Chairman of the party, signed by the Secretary to the Commission, Mrs. Augusta C. Ogakwu, the party Constitution, Manifesto, Logo/flag and the list of the National Executive Officers were also approved.

Former INEC Boss, Attahiru Jega Honored With Global Award


The International Foundation for Electoral Systems has just honored former Independent National Electoral Commission boss, Attahiru Jega, with the prestigious 2015 Charles Manatt Democracy Award.

According to the foundation, Jega was given the award in recognition of his expert management of the highly controversial 2015 general elections, which positioned him as a credible election administrator.

A statement issued by the Chief Executive Officer of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems, Bill Sweeney said:

“Chairman Jega’s leadership was instrumental to Nigeria’s successful general elections in 2015. He deserves full credit for his efforts to increase the credibility and transparency of the electoral process under extreme logistical challenges, such as terrorist threats from Boko Haram, where failure could prove the catalyst for predicted election violence.”

Police In Benin Brutalize Man For Having Tattoos On His Body


A man named Jerry Guobadia  has been badly beaten by the police for having too manytattoos on his body in the Benin city area of Edo state. According to eye witnesses, the police tried to arrest him and he resisted. This led to him being seriously physically assaulted.

Street Hoodlums Stab Muslim Cleric to Death For Refusing To Buy Marijuana


Reports say that a 25 year old Isamic cleric, Alfa Rahmon Alabi, has been murdered in strange circumstances by hoodlums after he refused to buy Indian Hemp (Igbo), for them.

The strange incident which occured on Thursday, July 9, at the Ayobo area of Lagos State, has thrown the community into confusion and apprehension.

Sources say the Iseyin, Oyo State indigene, was on his way to the Mosque to conduct the Tahajjud (Night Prayer), when the hoodlums accosted him and requested he bought marijuana for them, but he refused, saying doing such was against his Islamic faith, abusing them in the process.

The apparently 'stoned' hoodlums reportedly became angry and attacked him and in the process, stabbed him with knives and bottles after dispossessing him of his phones and money.

One of Alfa Rahmon's friends narrated how the ugly incident happened:

“Alfa was very popular around here and we all loved him. He had nothing to do with cultism. In fact, he served as the Muezzin (Islamic faithful who calls for prayers), and also woke people up with songs every morning for the Sahur, preparatory to the fasting.

Osun State House Of Assembly Commences Gov. Aregbesola's Impeachment Process


Following weeks of crisis in Osun state, Daily Independent reports that the impeachment process of Governor Rauf Aregbesola might be in the works.

A serving judge in the state, Justice Folahanmi Oloyede, had written a petition, asking for the commencement of impeachment proceeding against Governor Rauf Aregbesola and his Deputy, Grace Titilayo Laoye-Tomori.

Justice Oloyede had, in her petition, urged the Assembly to probe how Aregbesola allegedly mismanaged the state resources to the level that the government could not pay workers’ salaries for seven months.

It would be recalled that the issue of Aregbesola’s inability to pay workers’ salaries had grounded the state, as workers embarked on industrial strike for about six weeks.

The strike was called off last Monday and workers were asked to resume work on Tuesday, but after just a day at work, the workers resumed the industrial action on the ground that the government had betrayed their trust.

An American man from Bend, Oregon named Beatie,34 has reportedly given birth to a baby girl which makes him the first man in the world to do such.

Beatie was originally a female but he had his breasts removed through surgery and has been living  as a man ever since.

He conceived with sperm from a donor and was inseminated at home by his 45-year-old wife Nancy, using a do-it-yourself kit. Beatie reportedly spoke for the first time about the 40-hour labour, describing it as the ‘experience of a lifetime’

Buhari Is Already Becoming A Dictator - PDP Warns


The opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Thursday, July 16, implored the international community to call President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to order.

According to the PDP, the APC is practising what it described as the draconian and authoritarian rule by the present government. 

The PDP, also stated emphatically that it’s opposition to the appointment of Mrs Amina Zakari as the acting Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is unwavering, and will not accept any election conducted under her watch, in which the PDP might be declared the loser.

Olisa Metuh, National Publicity Secretary of the PDP who made the observations on behalf of the party during visits to the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and International Republican Institute (IRI) in Abuja, said PDP won’t accept any election conducted by the “daughter” of the president.

In accusing the president of dictatorship and arm-twist of opposition, the PDP spokesman decried Buhari’s style of leadership as he accused the president of sidelining  governors of the opposition on national issues.

Yaba-Left Doctors Go On Strike Due To Increased Attacks From Psychiatric Patients


Doctors at the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Yaba, Lagos state have embarked on an industrial strike action to protest against the inadequate security operatives to protect doctors from continued attack by psychiatric patients. This incidents have been on the increase over time leading to the psychiatrists sustaining major injuries in the course of their jobs.

The President, Association of Resident Doctors of the hospital, Dr. Jeje Oyetayo, said that doctors had to embark on an indefinite strike after the last attack on two female doctors at the outpatient unit of the hospital in June.

ISIS Marks Eid el-Fitr With The Release Of Video Showing Child Executioner Beheading A Syrian Soldier


World's most depraved Islamic terrorist group, ISIS has released a sickening video in which they forced a young child to savagely behead a Syrian army officer in the first execution of its kind.

The murder is understood to have taken at the Western Hir Palace in the province of Homs after the soldier was captured by jihadists at the nearby Al-Bosayri army checkpoint. The unnamed officer is believed to have been a regime leader in the ancient city of Palmyra, which ISIS captured in May.

In the past, ISIS have increasingly used young boys in their gruesome executions, with some children no older than 12 being forced to shoot the opponents at point blank range.

However, using a child to carry out such a brutal beheading with a knife is a sickening new low for ISIS.

President Buhari Dissolves Boards Of Federal Parastatals, Agencies & Institutions


According to a statement by President Buhari's Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the presidency has approved the dissolution of the Governing Boards of Federal Parastatals, Agencies and Institutions with effect from Thursday, July 16, 2015.

The statement adds, “Until the boards are reconstituted, chief executive officers of the affected parastatals, agencies and institutions are to refer all matters requiring the attention of their boards to the President, through the Permanent Secretaries of their supervising ministries.
