Court Admits Exhibits Against Ex-NURTW Boss, Auxiliary On Medical Student’s Murder Case


An Oyo State High Court yesterday admitted some exhibits allegedly used by a former Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Alhaji Mukaila aka Auxiliary during the mayhem that claimed the life of a medical student and others at Iwo Road interchange, Ibadan.

The exhibits tendered by the Investigating Police Officer in the murder case, Mr. Idowu Akeem include a Peugeot 607 car, a Nissan Micra car and some ammunition.

The ex-NURTW leader is standing trial on murder and conspiracy charges against him.

The violence which happened in March 2004  led to the death of many other people when some hoodlums opened fire on them at the ever-busy interchange.

The accused was alleged to have conspired with Saheed Kareem,Taiwo Tijani, Abu Kareem and Kazeem Kayode, and others who are at large, to murder Adekunle Oladipupo by shooting on March 2, 2014, around 9.45 pm at the Iwo Road Motor-Park, Ibadan.

Man On Solidarity Trek To Honour Buhari , Declared Missing


The police in Bauchi on Thursday declared missing, a middle-aged man who left on foot to Abuja, to attend the swearing-in ceremony of President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to a statement from DSP Haruna Mohammed, Bauchi Police Command’s spokesperson, Nurudeen Maimako, a resident of Dass town in Bauchi state, left his town on May 15 to Abuja, but has not been seen since then.

“ On the 3/6/2015 at about 11:15am,one Muhammadu Hussaini ,male, of Dass town, reported at Dass Divisional Police Headquarters, that on 15/5/2015 at about 6.00am,his son, one Nuruddeen Maimako, male and 38 years, left Dass on Foot Solidarity to attend the swearing in ceremony of President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja.

“Since then, his whereabouts is not known and all efforts made to locate him proved abortive.

Housemaid Arraigned For Stealing N7m Property


A 25-year-old housemaid, Queen Onalo, has been brought before a magistrate’s court on the Lagos Island for allegedly stealing valuables of one Nneka Ogbuagu, her boss’ friend.

The property, according to the police, are a necklace, rings, clothes and bottles of perfume estimated at about N7m.

It was learnt that the housemaid also stole N30,000 which belonged to her boss, Lisa Ray.

It was gathered that Ogbuagu and Ray were neighbours and they resided on Agungi/Ajiran Road, Lekki, in the Eti-Osa Local Government Area of the state.

Ogbuagu, apart from sending Onalo on errands, also gave her a free access to her rooms.

The housemaid was said to have exploited the freedom to steal the property around 10 am on May 14, when the friends were not at home.

Miss Zimbabwe Loses Crown After Nude Photos Surfaces Online


Reigning Miss Zimbabwe has been dethroned following publication of her nude photos in a National tabloid just few weeks after being crowned Queen.

The dethroned queen, Emily Kachote, 25, confessed after interrogation that she shared her nude photos via social media platform, Whatsapp some months before becoming queen.

The Zimbabwean tabloid published report of nude pictures of Emily in May which the paper claimed was obtained from Whatsapp group thus forcing Miss Zimbabwe Pageant officials today to announce reigning queen is dethroned.

38-Year-Old Woman To Die By Hanging Over Step-Son’s Murder


A Makurdi High Court, presided over by Justice Jennifer Ijohor, yesterday, sentenced a 38-year-old house wife, Mrs. Ternenge Tersoo, to death by hanging for the murder of her one-year-old step-son.

The convict’s husband had reported her to the Police at Vandeikya in 2012, alleging that his wife killed his one-year-old baby.

According to the First Information Report, FIR, filed before the court by the police prosecutor, she was accused of snatching her year old step-son from a nanny and strangled him to death.

In the course of the trial, the accused testified for herself and denied the allegation, but called no witness to support her claims.

She was also alleged to have failed to show remorse over the incident and held her ground that she had no hand in the death of the baby.

Remembering MKO Abiola : A Brief History


Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola  was born on August 24, 1937 and died July 7, 1998. He was popularly known as M. K. O. Abiola, he was a popular Nigerian Yoruba businessman, publisher, politician and aristocrat of the Egba clan born in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Moshood was his father’s twenty-third child but the first of his father’s children to survive infancy.

MKO showed entrepreneurial talents at a very young age, at the tender age of nine he started his first business selling firewood. He would wake up at dawn to go to the forest and gather firewood, which he would then cart back to town and sell before going to school, in order to support his old father and his siblings

He later established a band at age fifteen where he performed at different functions in return for food. 

He was the editor of the school magazine The Trumpeter, Olusegun Obasanjo was deputy editor.

In 1956 Moshood Abiola started his professional life as bank clerk with Barclays Bank plc in Ibadan, South-West Nigeria. After two years he joined the Western Region Finance Corporation as an executive accounts officer before leaving for Glasgow, Scotland to pursue his higher education. In Glasgow he received 1st class in political economy, commercial law and management accountancy. He also received a distinction from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
