Woman In Police Net Over Fake Testimony


A 25-year-old woman identified as Mrs. Blessing Emeka Eze who has been going from one church to another claiming that her 8-year-old daughter was kidnapped and released after 11 days in captivity has been arrested.

The Owode, Ogun State-born domestic servant was caught by members of Four Square Gospel Church, Obawole, Iju station, a suburb of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, on Sunday, 7 June, 2015 where she had gone to give false testimony that her 8-year-old daughter who was kidnapped at Ogba area of Lagos State was found at Mile 2 after 11 days. She also told the congregation that precious told her that she was fed with raw food and raw meet which made the Pastor of the church, Rev. A.S. Adekunle to order that the girl be taken to a medical centre on Old Akute Road for treatment.

On getting to the hospital, the 8-year-old girl who was wearing pampers was observed by the doctor on duty and the doctor said nothing was wrong with the girl.

Unpaid Salaries: Winners’ Chapel Rallies Food Aid For Osun Workers


The State Pastor of the Living Faith Church, also known as the Winners’ Chapel, Osogbo, Olumuyiwa Emmanuel, on Sunday made a passionate appeal to members of the church to start bringing foodstuffs and money to assist members (workers) who are civil servants that have not been paid their salaries in the last seven months.

The cleric made the appeal to the congregation in his sermon during the first service held at the church in Osogbo.

Emmanuel said that the church had observed that the salary issue was affecting some members of the church who were civil servants and had decided to make the call to offer them succor.

He said, “There are people among us who are civil servants and who have not been paid for about seven months. These people need our help especially at this time.

“Whatever you have, begin to bring them to the church from tomorrow. Bring foodstuffs and money. We must be our brothers’ keepers. Don’t bring clothes; this is not the time for that.

Evangelist Kills Herself Because Her Husband Couldn't Satisfy Her In Bed


A 32-year-old housewife, Nancy (surname withheld) in Okpanam Community, near Asaba Delta State, has allegedly stabbed herself to death following the failure of the husband to fulfill his conjugal responsibility at the weekend.

It was reliably gathered that the woman, an evangelist with a prominent church in the area, had complained bitterly to her relations about her husband’s “weakness” during sexual intercourse, threatening that she cannot stand it anymore.

But insiders said that she got married to the man, a highly placed mechanical engineer (name withheld) without premarital sex, and is said to have grumbled after the situation confronted her.

Trouble started last Saturday night after the husband reportedly failed to perform again; and she allegedly took the decision to kill herself by stabbing herself in the stomach.

Prostitute Strips Self Unclad To Resist Arrest For Stealing N17,800 In Lagos



A 33-year-old woman, Blessing Uche, on Monday, June 8, 2015 appeared before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for alleged theft of N17, 800 and stripping herself Unclad in public to resist arrest.

The accused, who is facing a three-count charge of assault, stealing and resisting arrest, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Cpl. Cyriacus Osuji, told the court that the accused committed the offences on June 6, at the Railway Line in Otto area of Lagos.

Osuji said that Uche, an alleged sex worker, stole the sum of N17, 800 from one Shaibu Umoru.

He told the court that the accused stripped her Unclad when the police came to her arrest, thereby frustrating them from doing their lawful duty.

Driver Stabs Policewoman To Resist Arrest


A 32-year-old driver, Samuel Adam, who allegedly stabbed a policewoman with a broken bottle, was arraigned on Monday in Lagos.
Adam, who resides at No. 33, Oshoro St., Papa-Ashafa, Agege, Lagos, is being tried at an Oshodi Magistrates’ Court on charges of breach of the peace and assault.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. Kehinde Olatunde, said that the accused committed the offences on May 20 at Bello Street, Shogunle, Oshodi.
He said that the accused stabbed the policewoman, one Sgt. Raliat Jimoh, attached to the Shogunle Divisional Headquarters, while performing her official duty.
“The accused stabbed the complainant, to resist arrest.”

Heat Wave Kills 25 In Pakistan


Death toll from a heat wave in Pakistan rose to more than two dozen people, officials said on Monday.

The rescue official, Meraj Ahmed said that no fewer than 13 devotees marking a 13th-Century Sufi saint’s birthday in the southern province of Sindh died as temperatures reached 46 degrees Celsius.

“Twelve more deaths were attributed to the heat on Monday as the temperature climbed another degree to 47,’’ Ahmed said.

Thousands of men and women throng the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Dadu district every year to pay their respect to the saint, born in present-day Iran.

Family Angry As Pistorius Release Set For August 21


Oscar Pistorius, the South African double amputee sprinter who shot dead his girlfriend, is scheduled to be freed on parole on August 21 after serving just 10 months in jail, officials said Monday.

The proposed release date provoked an angry reaction from the parents of model and television presenter Reeva Steenkamp, 29, who Pistorius shot on Valentine’s Day in 2013.

Pistorius, a role model around the world after competing in the Paralympics and Olympics, claimed that he mistook Steenkamp for an intruder, firing four shots through a locked bathroom door.

“Incarceration of 10 months for taking a life is simply not enough,” her parents June and Barry Steenkamp said a statement released online.

“We fear that this will not send out the proper message and serve as the deterrent it should.”
The statement added that the family had “forgiven” Pistorius and did “not seek to avenge” their daughter’s death.

Gunmen Kill Nigerian Businessman In South Africa


A Nigerian businessman based in Johannesburg, South Africa, Mr Emmanuel Onyekaozuru, 50, was killed on Sunday by gunmen. The President of Nigeria Union in South Africa, Mr Ikechukwu Anyene, on Monday told newsmen in Pretoria, South Africa, that Onyekaozuru was shot by two gunmen.

‘’ The union has received a report that a Nigerian businessman, Emmanuel Onyekaozuru, was shot in his business premises at 9.00 p.m. yesterday (June 7). ‘’ The report said that the gunmen shot the deceased and escaped in a car.

‘’ The incident has been reported to the police and the Nigerian Consul General in South Africa,’’ he said. Anyene said that the union would work with the consul general and the police to ensure that justice was done in the case.

Father Strangles Four Daughters In Pakistan

A Pakistani man has murdered his four young daughters in the central province of Punjab, police said Monday.  

The crimes occurred in Chak Jumra town, around 215 kilometres (135 miles) northwest of Lahore. 

 “Irshad Ahmed, a resident of Chak Jumra strangled his four daughters, two sets of twins, late Sunday night,” local police official Ghulam Shabir told newsmen.

He said the victims were all aged between four and seven.  “The father was on anti-depressants,” Shabir said, adding that the mother had taken two other children to a wedding in a neighbouring town and left the four girls with their father.

Obasa Emerges Speaker Of 8th Lagos Assembly


After weeks of horse trading, intrigues and keen contest, Hon Mudasiru Ajayi Obasa, was Monday elected the Speaker of the eight Assembly, Lagos State House Assembly.

The election came following the proclamation of the Lagos State House of Assembly by Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode

Obasa, who is from Agege constituency I, and Chairman of the House Committee on Budget and Economic Planning of the 7th, legislative assembly.

Hon. Wasiu Eshinlokun-Sanni, from Lagos Island Constituency I, was elected as deputy speaker. Eshinlokun, a Lagos Prince, was a member of the House between 1999 and 2003.

The duo, subsequently, took the oath of office in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria after been sworn-in.

Policemen Gun Down Tanker Driver For Giving Them N20 Instead Of N50 Bribe


The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended three policemen over the death of a tanker driver in Ningi Local Government Area of the state.

The deceased was allegedly shot to death by one of the three policemen because he gave them  N20, instead of the N50, they demanded for.

Two witnesses, Alhaji Sani Uba Ningi and MallamAminu, said when the driver refused to give the policemen the N50, they pursued him to Guduba village, four kilometers away from Ningi, where one of them shot him.

Military Moves Command-Control Centre To Maiduguri


Following President Muhammad Buhari’s directives to the military to move its command centre to Maiduguri, the Borno state capital to fight Boko Haram sect, the authorities of the Nigerian Army has heeded to the order and concluded arrangement for all Service Chiefs to move in tomorrow (Tuesday).

The establishment of the Command centre for ‘Operation Zaman Lafiya’ was contained in a press statement signed by the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman and made available in Maiduguri on Monday.

“In compliance with Presidential pronouncement and the Chief of army Staff’s directive, a reconnaissance and advance team for the establishment of Military Command and Control Centre (MCCC) for Operation Zaman Lafiya for the fight against terrorism and insurgency has moved to Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

Suspected Child Traffickers Nabbed In Imo State


Operatives of the Anti-kidnapping Unit of the Imo State Police Command have arrested a syndicate that specialized in stealing and child trafficking.

The suspects, identified as Kelechi Nwogu (22) and Ebuka Ibe, also 22 years old, were arrested following a distress call by a concerned citizen.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Austin Evbakhavbokum, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on some of the arrests by his command recently.

Evbakhavbokum stated that the two suspects abducted two siblings namely Chukwuma Ezeribe (male) aged 4 and Chigozie Ezeribe (male) aged 3, while returning from school at Amazu Amato in the Orsu Local Government Area.

“The two victims were being conveyed by the suspects to a prospective buyer before operatives pursued and arrested them,” Evbakhavbokum said.

Wife Kills Hubby For Allegedly Keeping Late Night In Kaduna


The police in Kaduna have arrested a 40-year- old housewife, Mary Luca, who allegedly clubbed her husband to death at their Gonin Gora area of Kaduna metropolis.

Family sources said the incident occurred last Friday when the deceased returned home in the early hours of the morning and an argument ensued after the wife’s complaint that her husband always returned home late.

“Mary had on several occasions accused her husband of keeping late hours outside the matrimonial home and had advised him to put a stop to such habit,” the source said.

One of the deceased’s sons, Kefa, said he heard his father shouting around 3am that day and called on his mother to inquire what was happening to his father.

The sources said: “He said the mother shouted back at him from her room to keep off and remain quiet that armed armed robbers were operating.

31 Years Old Teacher Defiles Primary 3 Pupil


A 31-year-old teacher working with a private school in Ibadan, Oyo State, Adebola Adetola, has been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command after the family of a Primary Three pupil (names withheld) reported to the police and accused him of having sex with their daughter.

The pupil, whose parents said will clock 10 in July this year, was said to have opened up to the parents on Thursday, June 4, on what had been going on between her and her teacher, leading to his arrest on Friday, June 5.

The teacher, who attends a popular Pentecostal church in Ibadan, is due for wedding with his fiancée in August.

But the suspect said that he did not commit the crime he was being accused of, though he admitted that the girl used to play in his room and would sleep on his rug after school hours.

Blacksmith makes, sells guns for N30,000


A 65-year-old blacksmith, Najim Bakare, who has been arrested by the Lagos State Police command, says he makes guns and sells them for N30,000 each.

Bakare and three others were arrested for allegedly indulging in cult activities in the Ajah area of the state. Bakare allegedly sold a gun to a gang which the police have now recovered.

The suspect, however, said he sold the guns because he was poor and needed to make ends meet.

Apart from Bakare, the other suspects, who allegedly fomented trouble in the Mobil Road area of Ajah, are Adewale Odusote, Tairu Idris and Dare Ayetoba.

22-year-old Odusote, who hails from Epe, Lagos, was the first to be apprehended by policemen attached to the Rapid Response Squad after a tip-off. He was reportedly heading to deliver the gun to gang members in a hideout when he was arrested.

Chris Brown, Karrueche Tran Fight After Leaving Hollywood Club


Brown and Tran broke up in March after Tran learned the “Forever” singer had fathered a child with another woman.

On Thursday night, the pair arrived at Playhouse club on Hollywood Blvd. separately—Brown drove up in a silver Lamborghini—but left together with a group of others in a black SUV.

The meet-up looked less than amicable, though, as video from the scene showed Brown appearing to push his way into Tran’s car.

Nollywood actress, Ini Edo visited an orphanage yesterday and was devastated on how beautiful children could be abandoned. She shared pictures from the visit and urged the general public to help in anyway possible. She wrote: 

"Morning everyone. So, yesterday I visited the Hearts of Gold children's hospice and I was devastated. It was such a sad experience. I saw so many beautiful children and couldn't understand why they had to suffer so much. What got to me more was that through their illnesses they were still children, happy children that still wanted to play and boy did some of them crack me up. I must say I was very impressed with how neat they all looked shows they are well taken care of. The nurses and attendants were kind to them and very pleasant. It takes a heart of gold indeed to watch over those amazing souls. In all I'm thankful for their life cos this only means there's hope. We serve a miracle working GOD."

Boko Haram Suspects Escape Arrest, Kill Security Operative In Kaduna


Two Boko Haram suspects escaped yesterday in Kaduna after a gun battle which ensued between them and team of joint security operatives which led to the death of one of the operatives.

An eyewitness who is a neighbour to the residence of the Boko Haram suspects but sought anonymity said the team of the security personnel raided the area at about 1am yesterday when the area became saturated with gun-shots that lasted for hours.

The incidence occurred at Ungwan Keke-B village in Chikun local government area of Kaduna State.

Killers Escape From New York’s Maximum Prison, Leave Note


Two convicted murderers are on the run after using power tools to escape from a maximum security jail in New York.

Richard Matt, 48, and David Sweat, 34, have been described as “dangerous individuals,” by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

The BBC reported that the convicted murderers cut through steel pipes at Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora and fled through a manhole.

Mr Cumo said the prison breakout was the first escape from the facility in 150 years. “It was an elaborate plot,’’ he added.

The two escapees left a taunting post-it note for their jailers saying: “Have A Nice Day!”

New Deji Of Akure Emerges


Indication emerged on Sunday that a new Deji of Akure may be installed before the end of the week following the selection of a prince from Osupa ruling house, Aladetoyinbo Kole Patrick, as the new Deji of Akure by the kingmakers.

A source within the palace said that Aladetoyinbo was selected on Sunday by the k‎ingmakers among 13 other people who showed interest in the throne.

The Osupa ruling house had on Friday forwarded a list of nominees to the kingmakers after a meeting at the residence of its head, Dr. Ade Ogunleye, which was also attended by officials of Akure South Local Government who served as observers during the proceedings.

The nominees included Kayode Oluwole, Adegbola Adelabu, Adegbite Kayode, Adejuyigbe Femi, Adeolu Adepoju, Aladetoyinbo Kole Patrick and Agbebi Leye.

Police Recover Ammunition Hidden In Bush, Nab Two Cultists In Enugu


The Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Enugu State Police Command, on Sunday, recovered 387 rounds of 9mm live ammunitions and 10 live cartridges concealed by unknown persons in black polythene bags in a bush within Nwosu Terrace, Ogui, Enugu.

The ammunitions were recovered following a tip off to the police by an unnamed person.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, who disclosed this in a press release, said that the SARS operatives recovered the arms on Saturday after they were tipped off during their routine township patrol.

“The Nigeria Police Enugu State in its bid to ensure that the entire area is made safe and secured on 6/6/15, through its operatives of special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) acting on a tip off during their routine township patrol and raid of suspected hideouts of hoodlums, recovered three hundred and eighty seven rounds of .9mm live ammunitions and ten live cartridges concealed in black polythene bags inside a nearby bush within Nwosu terrace axis of Ogui Enugu,” the PPRO said.
