Kenyan Lawyer Offers President Obama 50 Cows, 70 Sheep, 30 Goats To Marry Daughter Malia


A Kenyan lawyer named Kiprono Matagei has made public his special request to US President Barack Obama.

One of Kiprono’s dream is to marry Barack’s first daughter Malia so he has announced that he is ready to pay 50 cows, 70 sheep, and 30 goats as bride price. And he is ready to meet Obama to discuss the matter when Obama visits in July.

Kenya Digest reports that Kiprono said:

“I got interested in her in 2008. As a matter of fact, I haven’t dated anyone since and promise to be faithful to her. I have shared this with my family and they are willing to help me raise the bride price” The young lawyer claims his love for Malia is real, not infatuation.

US Mathematician John Nash & Wife Killed In Car Crash


US mathematician John Nash, who inspired the Oscar-winning film A Beautiful Mind, has died in a car crash along with his wife. Nash, 86, and his 82-year-old wife Alicia were killed when their taxi crashed in New Jersey, BBC reports.

 Just a few days ago, Nash had received a prize from the Norwegian Academy of Sciences and Letters in Oslo with New York University mathematician Louis Nirenberg, who said he’d chatted with the couple for an hour at the airport in Newark before they’d gotten the cab.

New Jersey State Police say the Nashes were both ejected from the cab in the crash around 4:30 p.m.
Saturday. They were not wearing seat belts. The taxi driver, Tarek Girgis, was sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the Chrysler was transported by ground to Princeton University Hospital complaining of neck pain.

Olusegun Obasanjo Loses Younger Sister


Adunni Oluniola Eweje-Obasanjo, a younger sister to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, is dead.
She died at the age of 76 at a private hospital in Ota, Ogun State after a brief illness.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo broke the news of the death when he hosted women leaders from the South-west at his residence in Abeokuta on Sunday. He said the visit would have been cancelled after he heard of his sister’s death, but for the fact that it had been scheduled.

Only 6 Of 275 Rescued Females Are Pregnant : NEMA



The Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr Muhammed Sidi, has said that only six of the 275 females rescued from the Sambisa Forest in Borno are pregnant.

Speaking at an interactive forum organised by a non-governmental organisation, 1 Nigeria Initiative, in Abuja on Sunday, Sidi said the speculation that most of them came out with pregnancy was not correct.

“I must put it on record that only six of them came with pregnancy and we must be very careful not to stigmatize these innocent Nigerians.

“This is necessary so that we do not end up stigmatizing the child that is yet unborn. I think we must respect their rights,” Sidi advised.

Scarcity Of Petroleum Products Affect Airtel Services


While the current scarcity of diesel and other petroleum products affects socio-economic activities across the nation, mobile phone operator, Airtel today said that the situation is presently impacting negatively on its commitments to delivering best-in-class quality of service and seamless telephony experience to all Nigerians.

This was made known in a statement by Airtel management on Sunday.

The statement reads: “While we are currently doing everything within our means as well as going the extra mile to ensure that all our base stations and switches are up and running, it is sad to note that it is becoming increasingly difficult to replenish current stock of diesel due to the lingering scarcity of the products.

A 28-year-old woman, Maria Igbaji, narrated to a shocked Orile-Agege Customary Court sitting in Lagos, how she invested all her life savings on her husband, only for him to turn around to reject her, saying she stinks and is not good enough for her.

Igbaji, a mother of one, was testifying in a divorce suit she filed against her 35-year-old husband, Benjamin Igbaji, after six years of marriage on the grounds of adultery and desertion.

A tearful Maria told the court: "He now realises I stink after investing fortunes on him. I married my husband when he had nothing. I fed him, clothed him. I bought two buses for him for commercial use; he sold one and kept the money from me.

I gave him my ATM cards, so he could withdraw my money at will. I loved him passionately. I leaned on the promises he made to me not knowing that they were all fake.

Kidnappers Mistakenly Abducts Security Man's Wife, Demands 10m


When Zara Mohammed,27, a full-time house wife and a nursing mother ,left her home at Dolphin Estate, dressed georgeously to attend her friend’s baby naming ceremony at Ijeh barracks, little did she know that she would be mistaken for a millionaire’s wife and kidnapped on her way back home by a woman who offered her a ride at the entrance to her Estate.
It was gathered that the victim, who relocated to Lagos after she got married to her husband in Maiduguri in 2010, had two children including a six-month-old baby before she was kidnapped.
“Unfortunately, it was dark and I could not locate the place. The next morning, I went back and was able to locate the house of the celebrant. Surprisingly, my wife’s friend, the host of the ceremony, told me that she attended the ceremony but left almost immediately after giving her baby a gift. She, however, took me to some other friends’ houses to see if my wife had passed the night there but, it was an exercise in futility as none of them had any clue about her whereabouts.

OAU Lecturer Among 11 Kidnap Victims Who Regain Freedom In Ekiti


No fewer than 11 persons, including an 11-year-old boy, kidnapped across Ekiti State in the last three weeks were at the early hours of Saturday released by their captors.

They included a lecturer at Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Dr. Folasade Alade; a lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Dr. Femi Omisore; wife of a former Chief Medical Director of EKSUTH, Dr. Kikelomo Adegun, and a nurse with the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti, Margret Aladeneka.

Others were Biliaminu Abiola, Mrs. Lydia Agnes and her daughter, Mrs. Foluke Abiola, Mrs. Yemi Abiola, Mrs. Funmi Ogunlola, Mrs. Folake Adeniyi and Jimi Johnson.

Robber Arrested On Wedding Day In Ibadan


Nemesis caught up with a suspected member of a notorious robbery gang, Olumide Asiyanbi, as the Oyo State police command caught up with him while exchanging marital vows at a marriage registry in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

Asiyanbi presently in police custody said he joined the gang a year ago and that he had taken part in 10 robbery operations during which he fired gun shots at their victims.

“I was arrested on my wedding day. I met the gang leader, James Agba, last year. He told me that he knew how we could be getting regular money. He then initiated me into the gang. I have taken part in at least 10 operations since I joined them.

Mother, Daughter Kidnapped In Ibadan


A woman identified as Mrs. Opeyemi Adeniran and her daughter, Oyinkansola, have been kidnapped at their residence, in the Odo-ona Elewe, area of Ibadan.

The incident happened as the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Katsina, inaugurated the command’s Anti-kidnapping Squad, which is headed by Usman Dimka, at the state command, Eleyele, on Saturday.

A Save Our Soul message sent by concerned friends and relatives of the family on the social media claimed that Mrs. Adeniran and her daughter were kidnapped about 8pm on Friday and driven away in an ash coloured Volkswagen Golf 3 car with number plate FKJ 238 BD.

NDLEA Place Kashamu Under House Arrest


The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA),is not going back on its pursuit of the arrest of Senator-elect, Buruji Kashamu for drug related offences allegedly committed in the United States of America.

The NDLEA had laid siege to the Lekki, Lagos State residence of the Senator-elect, who also doubles as the chairman, organisation and mobilisation committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South West, by men of the NDLEA in the early hours of yesterday.

The NDLEA has now said it has placed Kashamu under house arrest pending his appearance in court tomorrow, to perfect his extradition to the United States.
