Over 300 shops were razed, Saturday evening, as Ogbe-Ijoh
market in Warri, Delta State, went up in flames again.
The cause of the fire which started at about
8.30 pm, was unknown, but clothing and building materials shops were among
those razed.
Traders were seen crying
on Sunday morning at the market, lamenting their loss.
There had been several fire incidents in
Ogbe-Ijoh market in the last few years and on each occasion, government
intervened by sending relief materials to the victims, but clearly, the reason
for the frequent fire outbreaks has not been tackled.
