Police Shoot Robber, Recover Stolen Items At Kubwa

A 25-year-old man has been arrested by men of the FCT Police Command for allegedly stealing some valuable items within the Pipeline area of Kubwa, a satellite town in the FCT.

The suspect, one Nasiru, was said to have stormed the area around 3.30a.m. with four others where they robbed several houses, carting away cash sum of money and other items.

They had finished robbing two flats and were in the third one when the occupants raised alarm that attracted other residents, who succeeded in apprehending the suspect, while others escaped.

“We were still holding the criminal, waiting for the police, who we had already contacted when he suddenly escaped from our custody,” a source added.

The source, however, said the suspect was given a hot chase and re-arrested by the police, who arrived the area almost immediately, after shooting him on the leg while he was trying to run away.
The suspect, who specialises in theft for over four years now, also confessed that he disposed his stolen items to one Adamu at Dei-Dei, who was also arrested by the police.

Similarly, the police in Kubwa have also recovered a black colored Toyota Corolla car from robbers along Arab road in the same area.

The robbers, who engage in car theft in the area, stole the vehicle from where it was packed close to a shop in Phase 4 around 7:50p.m.

The owner of the car almost collapsed when he came out and discovered that the car he locked very well has been stolen.

According to the source, the man quickly alerted the police which swung into action immediately and blocked all the exit routes leading to the recovery of the car in less than one hour. None of the robbers were arrested as they abandoned the vehicle and ran inside the bush.

Confirming the two incidents, the Kubwa Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent Nurudeen Sabo, attributed the successes recorded to the prompt alertness of the police by the victims, urging other residents to emulate them as any delay in contacting the force may be counterproductive.

He disclosed that four laptops, 12 handsets and cash sums were recovered from the suspects, adding that the case would soon be transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department.
