Ayede-Ogbese King Passes On

His Royal Majesty, Oba Peter Adetunmbi Iseoluwa Oluyede IV, has joined his ancestors. He passed on peacefully, on Tuesday, July 13, in his home.

A renowned Professor of Law, former member of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, accomplished author of many law books on Nigerian and East African Law, Oba Oluyede ascended the throne in November 2010 upon his retirement from public service.

Oba Peter Oluyede was one of the only three Nigerians, indeed Africans, who have obtained LL.D degree by examination from British universities. The other two are the late Professor T.O. Elias and Professor B.O. Nwabueze.

His reign brought a new standard of leadership to Ayede-Ogbese, a burgeoning commercial community between Akure and Owo.

The entire community has worn a sombre though hopeful look since the demise of the monarch was announced.

The Ondo State governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko and several other dignitaries were quick to offer condolences to the family and the people of the town.

The governor was quick to respond to the news of the monarch’s passing and had sent a message of condolence to the family.

The Chairman, Akure North Local Government Area stated in the condolence register: “My Dear Kabiyesi, I received the news of your demise with rude shock. However, I am consoled with the fact that you lived a fulfilled life; your good works will always speak for you. Good night.”

Oba Oluyede will be missed by his people; his wife, Olori Titi Oluyede and his children: Prince Ajibola, Prince Olusegun, Prince Afolabi, Princess Kofoworola, Prince Adegoke and Prince Odunayo.

The interment and first funeral rites are scheduled to take place in Ayede Ogbese on Friday,  August 7, 2015 at 10 a.m. The final rites and celebration of the late monarch’s life are scheduled for   December 19, 2015.
