Police Rescue 2 Abandoned Toddlers In Lagos

Two toddlers, reportedly abandoned in different locations at Owutu, Ikorodu, a suburb of Lagos, have been recovered by police.

It was learned that one of them, a day-old baby girl, purportedly abandoned by a young mother, was found by a good Samaritan identified as Kola Oyekunmi, around Yinka Oguntile Street, Igbolowo Estate at Owutu, Ikorodu.

The other, who is about two years old, was found by one Mrs Adesina Yomi of Olabose Olatan Crescent in the early hours of yesterday.

Kola Oyekunmi, who reported the case of the newborn to Owutu Divisional Police Station, said: “We found the baby by the side of a bush close to our house crying. It was the cry of the baby that alerted residents in the area. Surprisingly, the baby still had blood all over its body and its placenta still attached.

Mother Shocks Doctors As She Births 5,6kg Son

A baby, who is nearly double the 3kg average for a newborn, was named Noah Hopkins. His parents Keely Swift, 26, and Michael Hopkins, 34, did not expect their baby would be so big, as none of the scans had indicated his staggering size.

Recalling the day Noah was born, his father Michael said:“I have never seen a room go so quiet. There were a lot of people in the room at the time and we had to weigh him again just to make sure.We had no idea he was going to be so big because it hadn’t been picked up at any appointments with the midwives or anything. He did get a bit stuck but Keely was amazing. He is a bruiser.

Man Sets World Record Covering Himself In 1,1 Million Bees

Gao Bingguo, who has kept bees for over 35 years, decided to cover himself in 109,1kg of flying insects to break the previous record of 85.5kg. The process started with Gao stripping to his pants, then a number of queen bees were placed on his body to attract the other bees.

Woman Stabs 3-Year-Old Son To Death

In Ogun State, tragedy struck in Ogunso area of Otta in the Ado- Odo/Otta Local Government Area when a woman, identified as Adeyanju Funmilayo, allegedly stabbed her 3-year-old son to death.

Funmilayo was said to have inflicted multiple injuries on her son identified as Emmanuel by stabbing him in the head and other parts of the body with a knife about 4pm yesterday.

The boy died as a result of the multiple injuries he sustained after writhing in pain and rolling in his blood for a short while.

Late Emmanuel was a product of an alleged incestuous relationship between Funmilayo and her biological father, which occurred about three years ago.

Thunderbolt Kills 4 Kids On Childrens Day

The 2015 Children’s Day celebration in Kwara State turned tragic yesterday when thunderbolt struck and killed four children, all girls, in Gure, Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The thunderbolt struck during a downpour between midnight and 1am, rendering several villagers homeless.

A source in Gure told our correspondent that three of the children were of the same parents, while the fourth came to pass the night with her friends.

Kidnappers Of Kogi Judge Demand N150m Ransom

Suspected kidnappers of Kogi State High Court judge are demanding N150 million ransom.

The kidnappers contacted family of the judge yesterday and demanded for N150 million ransom to effect the release of Justice Samuel Obayomi Olatimehin.

Justice Olatimehin, who is resident judge of Ebogogo High Court in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State, was kidnapped at gunpoint on Monday while on his way to office.

His police orderly, Corporal Usman Musa, was shot dead during the operation.

Housemaid Bites Mother of 3 To Death

The police in Oyo State are investigating how an alleged bite by a housemaid, Elizabeth Fatoki, led to the death of her employer’s neighbour.

According to a source, the deceased, identified as Tawa Lawal, 30, was engaged in a brawl with the maid when the latter bit her bosom.

Mrs. Lawal was then rushed to a hospital, where she died after some days.

The deceased, a mother of three, lived at Salvation Army area of Ekotedo in Ibadan North-West area of the state.

According to Mirror,  Jacqui and Curly Moore met in 2003 when Jacqui, then recently divorced, came into Lionel’s Tattoo Studio in Oxford, where Curly worked. She asked him to design a dragonfly on her back.

"I went to get a new tattoo to symbolize my freedom and the new chapter in my life," explains Jacqui. "I’d never been attracted to men with tattoos before, but we got chatting, and were both single, so we went for a drink and hit it off.

FG Begins Distribution Of N5bn Clean Cooking Stoves

The federal government yesterday begins distribution of N5 billion clean cooking stoves for rural women all over the country.

According to Vice President Namadi Sambo, the stoves would help to a greater extent to reduce desertification in the country.

The prices of the stoves locally assembled in Nigeria ranges between N3,000 and N36,000.

Sambo who spoke at the launch of the stoves in the Banquet Hall of the presidential villa, Abuja noted that stoves would also boost job creation as well as reduce smoke related diseases among the rural women.

Wife Drags Husband To Court For Stealing Her N15,000 Phone

The police on Tuesday arraigned a 38-year-old civil servant, Cyril Agochi, of Federal Government College, Keffi, before a Mararaba Upper Area Court for stealing a phone.

Agochi is standing trial on a two-count charge of criminal force and theft.

The police prosecutor, Sgt. Stephen Kwaza, told the court that Doris Agochi of State House Quarters Mararaba, reported the matter at the Sani Abacha Road Police Station, Mararaba.

Kwaza said that on Feb. 17 at about 6:00 p.m., the accused who is her husband, came to her house at the above address, beat her up and stole her phone valued at N15, 000.

Nigerian Emerged The Best Doctorate Student In The UK

A Nigerian, Dickson Ndukwe Agbai has emerged the best doctorate student with the highest grade from the Newcastle University, England.

Dickson, a native of Ugwueke Community in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State was adjudged the best for the award of the doctorate degree following his outstanding thesis on: ‘Analysis of Biofuel Potential in Nigeria.’

A joint report of examiners endorsed by Dr. Paul Wilson of University of Nottingham and Dr. P. J. Dawson of Newcastle University testifying to Dickson’s outstanding performance reads: ‘That the candidate be admitted immediately to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.’ This is the very best and the topmost Ph.D viva/thesis examination grade based on the university’s grading system.”
