Benue State Police Command has arrested Terrungwa Gbermke, alias Vision 2020, the suspected killer of Assistant Superintendent of Police, Baba Ibrahim, member of the Task Force on Cattle Rustling and Kidnapping.
Gbermke and his gang were among the 32 suspects paraded, yesterday, by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hyacinth Dagala, at the command headquarters in Makurdi.
Recovered from the gang were a red Toyota Carina, used in the operation, and over 20 assorted arms and ammunition.
According to Dagala, “amidst the grief of the killing of ASP Baba Ibrahim, crack detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Makurdi, swung into action, traced the hoodlum to their hideout along Abaji-Amafu Road in Katsina-Ala and arrested four of the suspects.
“They include Terungwa Gbermke, alias Vision 2020, Sarwuam Kyuun, Aondover Laav, and James Akuleagwu. “Items recovered from them include one G3 rifle, with four rounds of live ammunition, one red Toyota Carina 11 vehicle, with number plate XD 811 Makurdi, one unregistered Honda C50 motorcycle, one power saw machine, black face cap and charms.’’
The commissioner said the suspects would soon be charged to court after the police had completed investigations into the crime.
