Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe, has rubbished the reports making the rounds that he is planning to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Orubebe, who is believed to be a die hard PDP member following his infamous display during the collation of presidential election results, says his twitter handle through which the announcement (which he has now disowned) was made had been hacked.
Orubebe however in a series of tweets (from the same handle: @ElderGOrubebe) said: “Neither myself nor my supporters have any intention to defect to the APC. I have ordered that earlier message be deleted. It wasn’t from me.
“My Twitter was compromised and message shared without my knowledge. We have just changed my password for stronger one. Thanks for the calls.
“I have received numerous calls and text messages on this issue. I remain in PDP as a matter of principle and dedication. It is my family.
“Please, ignore any message of defection. It is the handiwork of mischief makers. I WILL NOT LEAVE THE PDP. Definitely not anytime soon.”
The former minister threatened legal actions against the ‘rumour mongers’. Orubebe did not stop at debunking the report which was authentic given that it emanated from his twitter handled, he went ahead to insult the platforms which broke the news.
According him: “News report coming from some mushroom online newspaper shouldn’t be taken seriously. I have since on my page deleted the false message.”
