Two persons lost their lives in a recent accident that occurred near Government Secondary School (GSS) ,Gwagwalada, on the Abuja-Lokoja expressway.
A witness said the accident happened around 2 a.m. when a truck carrying tiles lost control and crashed into a concrete barricade.
He said the driver and the conductor were trapped inside, while one other occupant who sustained injuries was taken to hospital by men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the area.
Effort to get the reaction of the Gwagwalada unit commander of the FRSC, was not successful, but an official at the command confirmed the accident.
He said two persons, the driver and his conductor, lost their lives in the accident, adding that their corpses have been deposited at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital morgue in Gwagwalada, while those injured were also taking for treatment in the same to hospital.
In another incident, seven persons sustained injuries on Saturday night at Manderegi village, on the Abuja-Lokoja expressway.
A witness said the accident happened around 9:12p.m. when a Volkswagen Sharon bus with registration number DC 263BKK lost control amid heavy downpour and ran into a Daf truck with registration number EN 358 ABJ.
He said the driver and six other passengers, who sustained various degrees of injury were rescued by sympathisers before the arrival of men of the FRSC, who conveyed them to St. Peter Catholic Hospital in Abaji.
When contacted, the Abaji unit commander of the FRSC, Moses A. Audu, confirmed the accident, saying the injured were taken to a hospital at Abaji.
