Raped 14-Year Old Girl In Abia Commits Suicide Out Of Trauma


A teenage girl based in Abia state was brutally gang-raped by 3 men that left her in a pool of blood. She was terribly haunted by the ordeal of her rape that she hung herself on a guava tree. 

According to the Sun, a 14-year old girl named Chiawolam Comfort Umeh took her own life on the 7th of July after she was brutally raped by some dare-devil men that numbered up to 3 on the 28th Of June.

The crime was reportedly committed at Iyienyi Village, near Okwoyi Community, in Isieke, Ibeku, in Umuahia North LGA of Abia State.

Chiawolam’s father, Mr Umeh said that early in the morning that Tuesday, her mother called her to find out how she was raped and she complained that she was having pains all over her body. The mother told her to endure till they come back from the police station that morning, but unknown to them, the deceased had another plan.

“She took her jacket and what we later discovered was a scarf and left, warning that nobody should mention her name. We thought she was going to the toilet,” the distraught father said.
Close-by people heard the voice of someone in distress, they rushed into the bush to help the victim only to see her lifeless body hanging on the tree.

Her mother who was in distress over the issue vouched for her daughter's hatred for relationships with boys in the area.

She said, “In my presence, I had asked my daughter and she told me that relationship is not her problem now until she is through with her education.

"She hardly collects gifts from boys nor accepts free rides when coming back from school.”
  
An appeal has been made to security operatives and the police to help bring the offenders to book. 

The Police Public Relations Officer for Abia State, Mr Ezekiel Udeviotu, who confirmed the incident described it as unfortunate, stating that the police was doing all within its powers to arrest the culprits, who were said to have fled the community.
