Man Takes Vacation From Being Human, Becomes Goat

Some people use their vacation time to go to Disney World. Thomas Thwaites used his to become a goat.

Having commissioned prosthetic limbs in order to make the experience more authentic, the England-based designer lived among a goat herd for three days in September 2014. An exhibition of Thwaites' work with the goats will be made available to the public in London next month.

Thwaites told Mashable in an email that the project came out of a desire to simplify his life; to take a vacation from his problems.

"My goal was to take a holiday from the pain and worry of being a self-conscious being, able to regret the past and worry about the future," he said.

Aside from the prosthetics, Thwaites prepared by studying the cognitive and physical aspects of what it's like to literally be a goat. He visited a behavioral psychologist and neurologist to study "turning off" parts of his brain in order to think more like a goat. He spoke to an expert in animal locomotion to nail down their movement. Even further, he met with a biologist to see about making an artificial rumen (a part of the goat's stomach) in order to digest grass.

Oritsefemi, Olamide In Silent Feud Over Sebee Remix

Weeks after the release of Sebee remix, featuring two of Nigeria’s pop singers, there are indications that Olamide and Oritsefemi are currently engaged in silent feud following a collaboration with fast-rising Afro-pop singer, Sossi.

Quadruplets For Couple, Four Years After

For three years after they tied the knots, the fruit of the womb eluded Mr and Mrs Chidubem Igboji who live in Ebonyi State. In the fourth year, four bundles of joy came. It was if they were compensated for the years of great expectation, one baby for each.

The years of waiting presented other challenges. Some family members and friends pressured Chibubem to dump his wife and marry another. He chose to stand by his wife. Soon fibroids were diagnosed for which his wife underwent a surgery. This led to more pressures on the man to send his away. Again, he stood his ground.

His faith and patience paid off, but it was four years after. A set of quadruplets has come to them. Mrs. Igboji delivered the babies successfully at Mile Four Catholic Hospital, Abakaliki.

The elated husband told our correspondent that he wedded his wife in 2011 and they have been having difficulties in child bearing added to pressures from his parents and friends who were telling him to marry another wife.

He said, “We married in 2011 and in the same year, my wife suffered fibroids. So, we embarked on operation and began to wait for the fruit of the womb.

“Distributing films or other contents physically are becoming increasingly difficult, revenues are lost on a daily basis and content owners are at the mercy of the menacing activities of pirates. I think it is just natural, expedient and sensible to take contents closer to the consumers on demand and in terms that suit all the parties involved,” he said.

NEMA Raises Alarm Over Imminent Flooding

The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, yesterday, raised an alarm over the danger of heavy flooding in states and communities along the River Benue following information from Cameroon that it plans to release excess water from the Ladgo dam.

A statement signed by a senior information officer of the agency, Mr Sani Datti, quoted the Director General, Muhammad Sani Sidi, as saying that “the Cameroonian authorities in Garoua have indicated that between now and November 2015 there would be routine release of water from the Lagdo dam due to excessive amount of water presently contained in the dam”.

Sani Sidi, therefore, warned “all those living around the dam and along River Benue in Garoua up to Nigeria side to be alert and be ready for evacuation in case of possible flooding.” To this effect, governors of the affected states, state emergency management agencies, first respondents and relevant authorities have been enjoined not only to alert communities at risk, but also make adequate preparation for possible evacuation of such endangered communities.

Seasonal release of water from the Lagdo Dam in the past led to the death of several Nigerians and the destruction of properties by the resultant heavy flooding of some communities. A case in point occurred in 2012 when flood arising from the release of water from the dam wreaked havoc in the Nigerian states of Kano, Kogi, Adamawa, Taraba and Benue. Several lives were lost and many communities sacked by the devastating flood.

EFCC Launches Massive Manhunt For Sacked Nigerian Official Over $2.1 Million

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has finalized plans to declare former Executive Director of National Health Insurance Scheme, Olufemi Thomas, over a $2.1 million (about N413million) suspected money laundering case.

A source at the commission said the EFCC has been on the trail of the former NHIS boss for weeks after a Bureau De Change operator, Ibiteye Bamidele, named him as the owner of a $2,198,900 cash, recovered from him by men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
Mr. Bamidele was arrested on July 3 at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos, by officials of the NDLEA.

He was then handed over to the EFCC on July 8, for further investigation.

After Mr. Bamidele named the health insurance boss as the owner of the money, all efforts by the anti-graft agency to locate Mr. Thomas has been futile.

EFCC operatives, our source said, have combed every address associated with the suspect, including his known addresses in Lagos and Abuja.
Efforts were also made to locate him at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital in Lagos but that was also not successful.
