Gun Men Kill Plateau Traditional Leader

Farmers in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State have recovered the corpse of Galadima of Saluwe, Isiaka Adamu, who was killed by yet-to-be identified gunmen.

The 62-year-old traditional leader in the council area was found dead at the weekend after his assailants shot and amputated his limbs.

The victim, said to be a security guard at Wase local government secretariat, was suspected to have been killed by thugs, according to Plateau State Youth Council, PSYC, chairman for Wase, Yusuf Mohammed.

Mohammed said the deceased had left for his farm early in the morning close to the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, when he met his death and was later found by neighbouring farmers.

He said: “Last Sunday, over 300 cattle were stolen around the same axis by some youths. And today the Galadima has been killed. We are becoming impatient with the state government and the STF (Special Taskforce). These people walk almost six kilometers just to come and attack us, yet we are told not to carry arms to defend ourselves.”

According to the PSYC chairman, the incident has been reported to the STF in Wase, adding that “right now we are on our way to have a meeting with the captain in charge of Ford Operation Base, FOB Wase.”
