Police in Ogun State yesterday arraigned four men, including
Dada Sunday (22), Oguntola Dare (25), Adetipe Solomon (23) and Adetipe Michael
(18), before an Ota Magistrates’ Court for allegedly fighting in public.
The accused persons, whose addresses were unknown, according
to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), were being prosecuted on a three-count
charge of fighting in public, causing breach of peace and conspiracy.
The police prosecutor, Sgt. Ebibomino Itaita, told the court
that the accused persons and others at large, committed the offence on May 4 at
about 6.30 p.m. at Ejigbo Tuntun/Ilo Awera area in Ota. He said the accused
persons, with others now at large, conducted themselves in a manner likely to
cause a breach of the peace by fighting in public, with dangerous weapons.
Itaita said the offence contravened Sections 83 and 249 (d)
of the Criminal Code, Vol.1, Revised Laws of Ogun, 2006.
However, the accused persons pleaded not guilty to the
charges.
